Cool reaction and the first time I really see it as well. My only frame of reference would be memes and a bit of TNG video games I know. From the same time I can only compare it to Doctor Who classic, which I must say, started still B&W has fewer effects, but better creatures imo. Story wise those first two here felt quite fluid though not as drawn out as DW's 6-part adventures, so this is cool monster per week stuff. One can tell the structure of talking vs limited effect shots, because the budget had to hold for the whole season^^. I was looking for themes or morals, feel free to correct me bit I only got this. Episode 1: Ok, the last one of this race was kinda starving but invasive, so let's end it and bye :D Episode 2: This boy could not be taught morality with patience or sports, so I guess he has to stay an experiment for his kind. Kirk only had and angle of authority and masculinity with him, so of course that went sideways.

Is Better call Saul still happening? I thought that won the poll.

Yep! Patron voted shows are every Tuesday. The upcoming one on the 23rd will be the last 2 episodes of Black Mirror Season 3. Then the Tuesday after will be the start of BCS. Star Trek is a second show we've decided to start in parallel to patron voted shows as additional content and is posted every Wednesday or Friday depending on availability, and does not replace anything in the existing schedule.

The more you watch TOS, the more you will appreciate Galaxy Quest. Trek was very adventurous and ambitious for the 1960s. There are great eps & cringey ones, but it's all in good fun. I look forward to you watching some of my favorites - which I won't name until you watch them. Don't want to bias anynoe. In the Ep #&4 conversation you mention sci-fi before Trek... much of which was low budget and cheesy. You might really enhoy the mid 1950s film Forbidden Planet - which was clearly a huge influence on Trek.... very high-concept and great special effects. Enjoy the great AND the goofy of this mid '60s limited-budget TV series. It's a worthwhile ride!

It's funny watching this right after seeing the Red Letter Media episode of them just after buying one of the original moulds for the salt vampire costume.
