I was glad they didn't force the romance. I didn't like it when I saw it originally, and it doesn't help that the actress was 18 years younger than Robin at the time (and looked 2o+ years younger -- I actually thought she was a teenager and was so uncomfortable with his literally chasing her constantly). I think it's a great movie. Bruno Kirby is so good (and was later so good in "When Harry Met Sally" and "City Slickers." Character actor JT Walsh was also terrific as the jerky Sgt. Major. It goes without saying that Forrest Whitaker was wonderful -- he always is. Y'all should watch more Barry Levinson stuff (the director) -- Rain Man, The Natural, Diner, Bugsy, Wag the Dog, etc. He also did some superb work for TV -- "Homicide: Life on the Streets" (many from the same team as The Wire) and "Dopesick."
