Trey you on one. That wasn't fusion that was literally Henshin from Kamen Rider. Kamen Rider and other Henshin based stuff started in the 70's a whole Decade before Akira even started his first drafts and shorts prior to dragonball. If anything Toriyama was referencing Kamen Rider and other such Sentai works via the fusion dance poses and through the Ginyu Force. You got to stop thinking everything is a DBZ reference when it actually predates from older popular stuff like Kamen Rider and other Sentai works.
