Dear patrons and casual browsers.

This is a free, 78-page art-packed introduction to the psychedelic metal pointcrawl that are the Ultraviolet Grasslands. It covers less than a fifth of the complete written UVG content I have created so far with the support of my generous and incredibly cool patrons.

Yes, it is a freemium taster - but it's a good one. Neatly laid out, with extreme prejudice, in A5 format, I'm sure you will enjoy it.

It covers:

1. the introduction (well, wow).

2. the rules and maps that make the UVG work as a voyaging game.

3. an overview of the 30 destinations the final UVG will cover (we're currently up to 22 of 30!)

4. and introduces the Violet City - the start of the journey.

In the year and change that I have been actively trying to figure out what I am doing with Patreon, I finally landed on a model the patrons could get behind. A series of linked art-and-writing-and-some-maps pages that worked together to create a compelling mini-setting.

Eight updates would be all it took to get from the Violet City to the Black City. That should be easy!

12 updates and 60,000 words later: oh, how wrong I was.

Still! Welcome! Enjoy! We're nearly finished! For real!

Hi Elgin Scott! (couldn't tell which is the first name) Yes, there will be a full soft-cover POD when it's done (at least). I'm part of the Hydra Cooperative, a small RPG indy coop, that's put out projects like the Slumbering Ursine Dunes (a Slavic-inspired acid fantasy setting - fourth book coming soon - https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/140450/Slumbering-Ursine-Dunes), Strange Stars (a transhuman 70s sci fi inspired game - https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/142933/Strange-Stars), and Operation Unfathomable (a gonzo fun-house underdark module - https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/233145/Operation-Unfathomable). I'm also in talks about making a card deck based on the UVG, after the whole book is complete and laid out.

A few days ago I hosted a one-off built from this material: sent a caravan off into the grasslands to see how far they would get. Not far it turns out ;-) but it was a really fun game. The players had only little experience and were delighted with the setting ... and I had a ton of fun building the game. Thank you Luka!

Yes! It turns out the game doesn't go as far as you would think in a single session. I'm going to try to create a couple of "quick-routes" or "quick quests" for people to try out and experience a voyage on the fly.
