This was a wonderful blast from the past. I spent many (too many) hours in the "lonely fun" of creating Chaos Champions and their retinues from those books in my late teens, and even in college when I should have been studying. I think I still have the books a box in the attic somewhere. Now I might just see if I can find them.

They are real treasures, even if I found the process a little unwieldy. But I think there are a lot of games where the character creation system becomes essentially a kind of minigame.
