Patreon supporter David asked about time elementals and fantasy time travel, so here we are!

We had timey-wimeyness in our big AD&D campaign when we wanted to kill a god for all time and replace him in the pantheon with a different one (his son, the god of treachery). We had to kill various avatars in different time periods, and then the god. It was good fun, but I don't think it's something we'd revisit.

Time messes with the narrative and it's very hard to get it to match up again without it seeming like a railroad. I think I've only managed it once, in a game of tremulus. It wasn't even apparent that time was going to be a thing until part way into the game. It was partly achieved by keeping the players so busy that they didn't have an opportunity to really mess with the time stream beyond their immediate focus.

Yeah, I think it's a bit that works once. That's true of time travel in a lot of genres, though. Unless your thing is *about* time travel, it's weird to have it appear twice.
