It's time to share hot takes without having any knowledge on the subject. (I haven't watched or read anything about Chainsaw Man at all) (This project is a commissioned artwork, otherwise I would hardly have chosen Power as the subject of one of my drawings)

I'll go first...!

Outside of the guy with the chainsaw head and chainsaw hands, Chainsaw Man has the weakest character design of any anime at its popularity level.

Of course "weak" does not mean the same as "bad" at all.

The series does not contain a single character that I think has a bad design, but outside of the exception that I already mentioned, all the other characters are quite bland and unremarkable.

Chainsaw Man can be a story completely driven by its narrative, with relatable and memorable characters but to afford not to have something that catches the eye the story has to be something extraordinary.

I haven't heard anything but compliments on the series, a lot of it coming from people I trust in their good taste, but it's really hard for me to get into a product that doesn't grab my attention.

Knowing nothing about the series I wouldn't like to try to imply that they are trying to go for "safe design", but the truth is that since anime is becoming more and more popular in the west some artists are trying to game the system in order to have a better reception in the market.

Maybe and quite possibly I'm just taking things out of my ass, but I really don't feel the least bit curious about watching Chainsaw Man anytime soon...(￣∀￣)┌
