Last week was amazing in terms of content created.
I spent all the time I had at home working on the game with the exception of Thursday night to cheer on the French team for the Rugby world cup.
Other than that, my back still aches from how much I've sat on my chair in front of my desk writing, or modelling scenes.

I'm going to be creating the last scene of the first day today, which will be smaller than the others, quieter I guess, one good way to close the first day for MC at his new college.

I've changed a couple of things on this game with the way I created scenes which enhance the character in the center of the shot, resulting in more esthetic renders overall in my opinion.

I also learnt of a new trick which I didn't know before called the rule of thirds.
It was born in photography and it explains how to take a shot of the subject so that it has better impact.

Basically, it works like this:

Here you have a scene featuring one of the characters which I will introduce in another update.
Long story short, MC and the character are looking at each other from across the room without a word exchanged.

You can see the scene is split in 9 squares by 2 horizontal and 2 vertical lines.
The way you should use this technique is to place the subject, here the girl, where the lines interject. I chose to place her eyes parallel to the first horizontal line and have her right eye to the first intersection "A1".
With A2, I tried to line up her right shoulder so that the line drawn across her neck and shoulder would match with the second horizontal line.

It is said that "aligning a subject with these points creates more tension, energy and interest in the composition than simply centering the subject".

You don't have the setup of the scene, but I felt that positioning elements in this way gave a nice result indeed, better than if I had only centered it.

And here's the result:

So that's now one more tool I have at disposal to help me create good renders, and I'm quite happy about this.

I'm also really happy that I'm still learning, because it keeps it exciting, and I love this.
Anyway, how about we talk numbers now?

So far, we're looking at:

631 story renders
6 animations
6 scenes have been fully written.

Honestly, if I can have only weeks like last one from now on, we might be looking at a release sooner than expected.

Almost 220 renders were produced last week, as well as 2 animations, and I don't even remember the last time I had such a productive week.

So yeah, good week for me, I can only hope this one will be half as good as last week, and I'd still be happy.

Now, let me introduce you to another character of the game.

Miranda isn't a LI, but her story will leave its impact on you. That is if, you wish to know her story of course.

Anyway, that was it for today's progress update.
I need to finish that last scene for the first day, so I'll get back to it.

I wish you all a great week, and I'll see you soon.

It never crossed my mind that you could use this rule in 3d renderign but but works pretty good, as much as in photography. It will surely be a good thing, just don't abuse it, if a scene looks better without it, let it be! Thanks again for your work!

I like it when a game has important NPCs that are not love interests! I see it as a strong indicator that the storytelling is important to the creator (and that happens to be the key thing I look for)

Thank you, I also believe it's important. the story is what I focus on the most.
