I can think of plenty of examples in movies, video games, or books where machines, either by becoming self-aware or due to a programming glitch, start acting in a way that's not exactly in our best interest as their creators. Typically, in every work of fiction, we're shown the catastrophic consequences of this, with combat robots hunting us down or military AIs taking simultaneous control of all the planet's weapons of mass destruction and using them against us... But has anyone wondered what might happen when the humble android operating inside a pedicure salon malfunctions? 🤣
