Hi David, Unless I'm misremembering, at Fury Day I seem to recall someone mentioning that British units used to take the top mounted calibre 50's off of their Shermans. I think it was during the talk about the Sherman story- but in any case, is this true, and if so, why?

Hi David, Boring modelling question so apologies in advance but will keep it brief. I heard you mention on the We Have Ways podcast that the British Army didn't repaint American supplied kit, for North West Europe, but left it in US olive drab. Makes sense when you think about it but what happened to vehicles fitted with the 17Pdr? Was the gun painted to match the tank or vice versa? Or did they not worry about mismatching colours, bigger things going on etc Thanks and really enjoy these Q&As
