Currency Changes and Annual Memberships! *update post* (Patreon)

Hi everyone, 

As I mentioned last month Patreon are rolling out currency changes for creators so I can get paid in sweet sweet £££ instead of $$$. This means I'm subject to less conversaion fees! Yay! 

And as of today my currency has changed, whoop! Shout out to Clare from the Patreon team in Berlin who talked me through changing this and who is also a Patron! Thank you Clare! 💛

Also, annual memberships for Patrons is now available so if you would like you can pay up front for 12 months and get 8% off! (that's one month free!) ✨

TL;DR - 

Currency change: you don't have to do anything but if you're in the UK or Eurozone I'd recommend you changing to your local currency to avoid conversion fees. Info here. 

Annual memberships: you can get a discount by switching to paying yearly instead of monthly. Info here.

CURRENCY CHANGE

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU?

Not much. You can do absolutely nothing if you like and you will still continue to pay the same amount you always have. The change will mostly affect new Patrons signing up.

However... I have some recommended, nice, simple, easy changes for some of you that will benefit us all. 

For Patrons in the UK:

To avoid any additional conversion fees for the both of us, I suggest that those of you in UK also change to your local currency. For those of you who would like to switch your currency you can follow these steps:

1. On Patreon.com, hover over your avatar in the top right of your screen.
2. Click Manage memberships.
3. Find this page, and click Edit.
4. Under Currency, choose your preferred currency.
5. Click Update to save your settings.

For those of you in the Eurozone:

I'll still be charged conversion fees on your payments, however, you can avoid paying conversion fees yourself by changing your pledge to your local currency, Euros €. 

For everyone else:

Unless you fancy paying in £s or €s (for no other reason than shits and gigs), you will continue to pay in USD $ and nothing will change for you. For you lot (and Americans especially), I recommend continuing to pay in USD $. Patreon are expanding their local currencies though and hopefully soon more of you will be able to pay in your local currency and avoid conversion fees!

If you are changing your currency because you're in the UK or Eurozone:

Yay! Thank you! When I changed my currency to £ I had to edit the tier prices so when you change your currency, you will be swapping over to the new amount. NEVER FEAR! 

Patreon have created currency conversion tables that they're using (I believe they change every 6 months) and I've used this to establish the new tier prices. Article where they're from here.

So the new tier prices will be:

£3, £4.50 and £8.50 - doing it this way will hopefully mean your pledge doesn't change too drastically once the currency changes are made. This is also what new Patrons who sign up will be charged.

ANNUAL MEMBERSHIPS

This is optional, you can continue to pay monthly if you would like. If you do want to switch to annual then you can get one month free wooo!! 

Here's how you can change you current pledge to annual and save some money:

1. Log in, hover over your profile icon in the top right corner, and select Manage Memberships
2. From your Active Memberships page click Edit next to the pledge you want to change
3. You’ll see a familiar checkout page where you can select Annual
4. Click Update. Note: you’ll be charged upfront for the discounted price
