Mexico's Esteban Sedano is an unbeaten featherweight with a 5-0 record. Born and raised in Guadalajara, Jalisco Sedano started his MMA journey with a small team, Monsters MMA. A gym he's been with since day one. Sedano outside of MMA has a background in muay thai and kung fu. He made his amateur debut in 2018 and won two titles. After a 4-0 amateur career, Sedano transitioned to a professional late 2021.

Sedano is a primary striker that you won't see too much on the mat if it was open to him. His takedown defense has held up fine and when taken down he gets back up quickly. The gym he trains at (Monsters MMA) is known for its striking techniques. I can't speak for the other teammates but Sedano is an excellent striker. Yes, he is beating lesser talented guys in Mexico but he performing the way you'd expect.

Sedano fights with a wide stance firing from all angles. He does a great job mixing up his patterns and mixing in his shot placement. Sedano always throws in combinations and a lot of the time those are combos of knees, kicks, and his hands. I've seen him land an outside leg kick to a step-in knee to a left hook. What Sedano does so well is pick his shots never being repetitive. He can sit in the pocket too long but that's the case with a lot of muay thai guys. Sedano has credible head movement and rolls with punches pretty nicely.

One thing you can always expect when scouting prospects from Mexico is the majority of them are savages. Sedano will rip you apart on the feet and he is creative as well. From the occasional spinning stuff he uses you see him display some nasty elbows as well. Not just from his ground and pound and the clinch, Sedano uses step-in forward elbows to close the distance. He's creative in his striking and being hard to read is a good feat.

What's not hard to read is Sedado is one-dimensional. There have been moments of wrestling and ground game but nothing to get a breakdown on. He does have a stoppage victory from a TKO due to smashing elbows so he's not lost. In terms of jiu-jitsu offensively and defensively

Mexico over the years is starting to pump more and more talent into the big promotions. Sedano has the striking to hand with the majority. As long as his wrestling/grappling gets up to pace he's gonna be a massive threat. Even if his takedown defense is incredible over time he's gonna excel at a high level. Still some time to grow but Sedano is someone to watch for.
