This is one of those movies that crops up on TV at least once a year; and every time it does I think to myself "oh go on,then. Watch it again!" It's essentially The Taming of the Shrew with a very contemporary twist. The charm, and effortless rapport, between the two leads helps to smooth over a few awkward issues; and its clear to see why Julia Roberts became a star after this - although my favourite character is Barny Thompson,the Concierge :) Pretty Woman was released in 1990, but to me it has more of an 80s vibe (the music, the fashions, the big hair!) I loved your reaction. If you want to give another RomCom a go, I also have a soft spot for 2007's "Music and Lyrics" ( Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant).
