Hi fam!

We are back with another episode of Star Trek: TOS! This week we are watching Miri. This was a cool episode. We got to see another Earth type planet with an old human children species. Can you imagine a plague that kills people who enter adolescence/adulthood?! It's insane!

Anyways, go check out the reaction now!!

Xoxo,

Alexxa

For many years in the UK, this episode was banned by the BBC (along with three others from later in TOS) as being too distasteful for family audiences. It just shows how moral standards change, as they have no problem with broadcasting it now! This story definitely gets into my Top20 TOS episodes, as the concept is very strong; the performances of the two 'child' actors are brilliant (even though Kim Darby was 19 at the time; and Michael J. Pollard was...26!!); and I love the ensemble of Kirk, Spock, McCoy and Yeoman Rand. The only thing which is baffling is.....why a double Planet Earth?? It plays no part in the development of the storyline, and is not mentioned again. (I know the behind-the-scenes answer, of course; but if I tell you at this point, it will be a Spoiler) BTW,I researched some extra trivia on Dagger of the Mind. Apparently the character of Helen Noel (the romantic interest) was a last minute alteration, as it was originally scripted to be Yeoman Rand - which would have been really lovely, and completely apt; but it was felt that it posed too many problems going forward....e.g. Kirk being rapturously in love with her from now on, every time he sees her! :D
