Pikmin 4 is finally out in the wild, and the Punching Up crew consists of a bunch of newbies! Despite being new to the IP, Pikmin 4 has really impressed us, and we have a lot to say about our early impressions of the game! Along with that, Nintendo once again is taking a firm stance against emulation by blocking the Dolphin emulator from coming to Steam. Is this a big deal, or was this always going to be the outcome? Additionally, we're excited about Tomba and a slew of other obscure retro games coming to the Switch! As always, we love to bring the listeners into the show for their questions and input. So, is now a good time to buy an OLED Switch? Also, what’s a good place to start with JRPGs? And lastly, is Dagan a man of the woods now?

I played through pikmin 3 with my oldest nephew and loved it. I'm still working on the first game about halfway through and still gotta beat pikmin 2 yet but I played 4 and I gotta say it's the best one I have played so far 👍👍

Exactly what my week needed. Sure wish this was EVERY TUESDAY. 😋

Quick correction, time does pass in the caves. They just pass a lot slower at 1/6 speed. So be careful dilly dallying too much down there.

The caves were introduced in Pikmin 2, but weren’t in 3. I haven’t played 4 yet, but I’m a little put that they’ve gone from having multiple playable characters to switch between (2 and 3) back to just one character.

Pikmin 4 is fantastic! They’ve really got the formula down at this point with the fourth entry, although I’m a bit sad we will never see the 30 day timer again. I think I’m in the vast minority but the pikmin design philosophy was best when there were actual stakes and you felt like you weren’t going to make it off the planet if you weren’t efficient enough. Every day and action mattered so much more than the sort of puzzle/collectathon approach they are taking now. But at the end of the day I’m just happy to have more pikmin to play!

Another banger episode. Just great stuff every time. Love all of the JRPG talk and enjoyed hearing your opinions about Pikmin 4!
