In another legendary Colin Was Right moment, Embracer Group has officially broadcast an SOS. The mega-publisher is in significant debt and severely overleveraged, with 17,000 mouths to feed over 131 studios making something like 250 games. But few of its products matter, it can't release enough quality fare to draw the requisite income to sustain its Ubisoft-sized headcount, and its products inevitably compete with each other, too. Embracer was always an absurd proposition, one that almost no one made a peep about while its teetering tower was built ever-higher. Let's discuss their future, one markedly different from the one they planned just a few years ago. We also take the time to get deep into this week's other news, as there are a lot of announcements emerging from various showcases. Star Wars: Outlaws, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Persona 3 Reload, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, and Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth are just some of the upcoming titles we touch on, as well sharing lots of thoughts about Final Fantasy XVI's well-received demo, and listener inquiries on topics like the arcade ticket economy, the perfect game length, and Last Stand licensing its content to a big media company. Plus: Can we get Boar's Head to sponsor this show? Probably not, as it turns out.

Colin, by “gas mask” I assume you are talking about an SCBA mask (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus)

Anonymous

Just finished listening on X100 speed! Love it!

Vinny Pepperoni

To add to the Boar's Head sponsorship conversation, I have bought several pounds of Peppermill Turkey since hearing about it on the show. You're already selling the product without the sponsorship. A package of goods is the least they could do. Good luck boys

Anthony Palerino

This is not meant to be some snarky Bethesda fan reply, but do the newer Dragon Quest games justify their hour count?

Deemac

Can confirm - I've never played a Final Fantasy game but gave the demo a go after hearing the praise from various previews, and I absolutely loved it. Day 1 buy now

Nierly Crazy

Just a heads up regarding the Starfield situation. In an interview with Giant Bomb featuring both Phil Spencer and Matt Booty, Booty mentioned that as of that moment Starfield had the least number of bugs than any other Bethesda launch (I’m paraphrasing). Now, its totally valid to be skeptical of this comment, but hearing that made me raise an eyebrow. Especially when they had mentioned the original release date for Starfield was much earlier (even before the 11/11/22 date). Hopefully they’re proving how much they care about this game and don’t pull another Redfall. Good show so far!

Anonymous

I know i shouldn’t be, but Starfield is the most hyped I’ve been for a game since RDR2. and RDR2 ended up being my favorite game of all time, hopefully Starfield is just as good.

Edwin Garcia

Xbox’s third party embargo is disingenuous? , the competition does it all the time, that’s how the game is played. Also, you also mentioned that buying Starfield is a better value than playing it from Gamepass, maybe but if you do that you would be giving up on the other games. 🥺

Nierly Crazy

Jumping in on the movie discussion. Sony removed hundreds of movies from their storefront, not allowing you to watch those after being delisted due to “evolving licensing agreements”. At the time there was no news of refunds, so not sure what happened on that end.

Nierly Crazy

*30 seconds later* you guys briefly mentioned it and Colin said he’d look into it. Dang it!🤣

Anonymous

People don't respect enough how long it takes to play certain games when they recommend something. Tears of the Kingdom, Starfield, etc. take forever to play. For example if you aren't a massive JRPG fan, the idea of spending 100 plus hours on Persona 5 is insane.

WhatDarrenPlays

Regarding Starfield Tech discussion - I really hope you get someone with a degree in programming on the show at some point, to actually educate the crew about how games are made. Someone like Tom from Moore's Law. It was unfortunately so misguided the way Chris and Dustin talked about GPU/CPU and why Starfield isn't hitting 60fps. And to actually say to us, the listeners, that we are uneducated about it (which maybe is true at scale) but to not actually know yourself is not a good look. It's fine if nobody in the room knows how things work, but when you actually do know, and then have to hear others saying just wrong speculative information its so cringe inducing. I would love to watch Chris fumble as he described an Engine, 64 bit architecture, what a GPU is, a draw call, what a thread is. You guys have no idea how games actually run, and that's fine, like Colin, but to pretend otherwise is disingenuous. Also, you don't need a degree, a 15min video would break this stuff down easily. It was very funny listening to Colin trying to approximate how to stop latency from happening with game streaming. He was essentially describing interpolation, something Multiplayer games do to combat latency. You could tell, given a couple weeks and some focus, he'd probably be able to articulate correctly how to solve that issue. In multiplayer, a server interpolates or guesses where things will be based on velocity of player and time passed. The server knows where you'll be in-between the time it takes to receive its packets of data. MP games, Battle Royales especially have 150 people all over the world in one server sharing data at virtually no noticeable latency, so the issue of game streaming can be solved. Latency actually isn't the issue, its the transfer of 1080p or better video quality that's the issue there.

Dakota Brown

Dustin- thank you so much for the info on the Thrice tour. I had no idea they were touring for their BEST album. Just got tickets today after hearing you talk about the show and now I’m seeing them next week. You the best man.

Zack E

Yeah….I agree with this. We are getting way to deep on this stuff and to really communicate these things you frankly need to understand low level software engineering, which this podcast doesn’t even remotely have….sorry it’s not a value judgement it’s just reality. Frankly, one could argue that maybe if Bethesda had better engineers, it could be 60 FPS. That’s not what I’m saying I have no idea what is going on in their implementation, but that’s the point…unless you have deep knowledge of this type of stuff and actually can see what Bethesda is doing you are just speaking out of ignorance - like literally able to see and read their code not just listen to their dev diaries they will tell you what they want you to hear. Look we can agree that 60 FPS is “smooth” and 30 FPS isn’t as smooth. You can prefer one over the other. But let’s not act like we actually understand what’s going on under the hood.

WhatDarrenPlays

My pet peeve is the whole "items you can pick up are everywhere" - an item is just a piece of data with properties and tags stored in a DB in the game. It's physics are static until a physObject triggers. You could have 100,000 items in the game and your framerate would be fine. Now, if you were to stack up 100 items in a room and set off a bomb or grenade next to them, then it would tank fps as phsyics tries to calculate the math of everything moving every frame. Physics only runs in a radius around the player, not on every planet in every room all the time. People aren't living out their NPC lives either, they at most have a vague update every 60 seconds or so for the general area you're in if they're out of view. Why doesn't it run at 60fps then? Creation Engine is old, and optimization is extremely challenging work. Bethesda needs better Engineers imo, or to develop a new Engine built for the new hardware.

Hozi

Had to use the YouTube app again, dam thing keeps crashing again and yea I have complained.

Sorta Serious Gaming

Its disingenuous because it makes it appear as if they're exclusive for days when they aren't. No one else does that. Usually right after games are announced no matter where that happens they announce all the platforms they release on via their website or social media, not days later. Secondly if you already own what you care about, or don't care about the other games that haven't interested you enough to have played them already why continue to pay for the subscription

Hidari Shotaro

All I'm saying is that I would definitely buy a concord grape sticker of some sort.

Noah Trujillo

Pride is about sexuality. Some people don’t want that discussed with their children. I think that’s the underlying argument. Is it the government (and the corporations) place to weigh in there? Depends on who you ask, hence the conflict.

Brandon Van Cleave

Why are we still pretending that the LGBTQ+ movement is anything other than a left wing political cult? Any perceived stigma still existing is against the political cult, not against gay/trans people as individuals. It’s getting tiring seeing intelligent people pretend this is not the case.

SeanG123

It’s such a shocker the progressive LA communist had these thoughts on the NickMERCS and didn’t really get what the guy is trying to say. He wasn’t saying gays are coming after kids. Clearly. He wasn’t saying he hates pride or hates gay people. The lack of being able to see a situation just an inch deeper is completely appalling. LGBT makes up what percent of population? TV, Movies, Games and Advertising in US would have you believe that 50% of the world is LGBT and it’s just not true, obviously. BUT, it is a constant fucking onslaught of this stuff 24/7 across all mediums/advertising and a lot of it is targeted towards children who haven’t even reached puberty. Nobody cares if your gay. They do see an issue of exposing a variety of sexual preferences to their prepubescent children. 🤷🏻‍♂️

PuppiesOnParade

I preordered FF16 months ago and was excited to try the demo. That demo was so good that I didn't even want my progress to carry over, so I didn't upload my save that way I can play the prologue again. Stellar intro!

king_ryan_james

I don’t mind the Patriotism at sporting events because I think it’s about honoring our country, where we have the privilege to be able to gather and play a game for entertainment sake.

Christian

Hearing Dustin and Colin argue about physical vs digital is my favorite thing right now. #TeamDustin

MJ SKA BOI

Incorrect- he was promoting a TIRED homophobic trope that has seen recent mainstream resurgence in its weaponization against trans people. Lol Dog whistles are soooooo easy to recognize and this one was on a register even a deaf dog could hear.

Dakota Brown

I appreciated the nuanced conversation regarding pride on the show. However, some of these Patreon comments are off the wall. Please understand Chris’ perspective and better yet the perspective of the LGBT+ community. The reason pride exists is because the LGBT+ community is not treated equally still. Look at Florida and laws stating a person needs to show ID to use the restroom. Google all the instances of trans-gender people being attacked and killed. Google all the instances of gay and lesbians being assaulted to this day. The fight is still continuing despite the progress made. I agree that corporations don’t care and do pride themed things for money. However, many people still feel and are marginalized despite being more “mainstream.” When people stopped getting attacked and killed for their gender identity or sexual orientation, then maybe we can say the community is no longer marginalized. Just my thoughts.

Bogey Zero

Colin are you sure you played the ps4 version of Cyberpunk? I remember you waiting a while to play it and thinking you jumped in at the perfect time, which was when the next gen versions officially released. The ps4 version of the game is still pretty terrible. I’m pretty sure you played the ps5 version.

Jesse V

Your last point is kind of wild though. Evil people will attack and kill others for various reasons. Sexuality, nationality, property, sex, etc., - I think we need a better gauge as to how to determine if someone is marginalized. I'm not sure what the gauge should be, but I think if every major organization and institution is catering to you, I think that probably means you're not that marginalized. However, just because I don't think the LGBT+ community is marginalized, that doesn't mean that I think there isn't problems that they face. But the problems are less about marginalization, and more about the details and nuance - which there definitely are and you aren't bigot for having some reservations. And of course - the true evil and racist/bigoted people. But those people are so marginal (ha!) that they don't tell us anything worthwhile about anything or anybody.

Jesse V

The conversation about the CoD player is frustrating only in so far as I think we need to all chill. The player said something, and then he received an outsize reaction from the company and around the twitters. Ok. My thing is - who cares? Why do we have to resort to debating the merits of his argument? Whether you are for or against what he said, I think its better if we just all side with first principles such as free speech and simply shrug and move on. Getting lost in the weeds about groomers this or that - that's a conversation for a different show and forum. The more relevant conversation that we should be having is should someone get penalized for voicing a problematic opinion?

Jesse V

I love how quick he is on it too. No reservation; our boy Dustin goes straight after Colin the moment he says anything about digital and physical media. It's great.

Dakota Brown

You’re right that everyone will get attacked for any reason. However, the frequency of the attacks against the LGBT+ community is disproportionate to other groups. I work with the community as a therapist and witness/hear about these attacks often. We literally have a housing program only for LGBT+ individuals with drug and alcohol issues because many report being unsafe in environments with the non-LGBT+ people suffering from the same issues. We don’t have to do that for any other group..

Jesse V

The most convincing argument to me about digital vs physical media is stuff like The French Connection situation; in which the digital copies all over the internet were stealthily edited to remove a problematic scene. If you currently don't have a physical copy, the version you would be downloading today is not the one that was originally distributed. You know who doesn't have that problem? Physical disc owners. I say that reluctantly, as a digital only purchaser of media. But time and time again you do see organizations doing stupid shit like that. And to Dustin's point, do we really have that much faith in organizations?

Jesse V

We do though, like literally. Women have women only shelters. Men disproportionately suffer from huge mental health issues. Whites are OD'ing like crazy in Appalachia, Jews get attack regularly in New York, etc.. Every group has something, and I think that's to Colin's point. At certain point all this categorization and separation between groups based on traits is reductive and silly. People like Colin would say that the common denominator for all suffering or injustice is likely things such as class. I'm not sure I buy that argument either, but it seems more correct to me.

Zackery Parkerson

I had always assumed Colin’s “Greetings and Salutations” was some sort of nod to Christian Slater in the movie Heathers.

hugplx

My question is why *wouldn't* you play the demo? It's not a traditional demo that's taken from a random part of the game, it's literally the start of the game - and your progress carries over. It's early access. Whether you want to wait an extra week to start at the release date - whatever - but questioning why others wouldn't when there's no need to seems weird.

Luke Silletta

My brother is gay and he most certainly does not subscribe to modern "pride" culture. The way he describes it to me is that its become a fad that everyone seems to want a piece of.

Joseph Gedgaudas

I’m seeing the opposite of what Chris described with Legend of Zelda. Like I went to the wikipedia article of a character and saw several websites, including IGN, cited for why the character SHOULD be gay.

MomsLikeMe

Honestly, you guys shouldn’t broach political and social issues if you’re not willing to talk about them beyond the most surface level. Also no one actually did any research here. Colin didn’t even know anything about Nick and Tim. Having different opinions on subjects like this is fine, and talking about these topics on the show is cool, but if a lack of knowledge or willingness to say what you really wanna say in fear of isolating your audience is going to make you dance around points and turn specific discussions into broader ones it just isn’t worth it. My two cents. I don’t run one of the most successful gaming podcasts in the world, so take it for what it is. Keep up the great work and much love.

Zack E

Shocking I agree with Dustin on something, regarding this show constantly bringing up Kotaku and the likes Do we really want to spend X minutes of shows talking about it? It’s not interesting. It forces the show into unneeded “culture war” topics. Crying out loud can’t we dive deeper into the games themselves and not about the nobodies at there trying to stir the pot?

Tristen Wilbers

I actually agree, the conversation didn't need to be about whether what he is saying is correct or not. Your last point is really the important (and relevant) topic for this podcast. In my opinion, I think activision is totally in the right to retract their part in the relationship if they don't agree with it. It's not an employer-employee relationship, it's a mutual contractual agreement, in which either party should be welcome to pull out at any time. I think it's more fair to see Nick Mercs and Activision as equals in this scenario, rather than Activision is somehow fucking him over. I know that they are being hypocritical (as companies are), but I think they are well within reason to want to pull out from a relationship that they don't see as beneficial anymore.

Anonymous

40fps modes will be the saving grace for people with 120Hz TVs when all these 30fps games start coming out. 40fps truly feels much better than 30

The Fred Durst Death Hoax

Say what you want about where they took it with later games, but I think telltales walking dead season 1 doesn't get the credit it deserves for giving a scruffy middle aged man with emotional baggage an adoptive daughter in a zombie apocalypse. And hot take, I think that first game on its own does that story better. And a year earlier. It's a walking sim, but let's not pretend the last of us was revolutionary for its gameplay.

TL

Metaphor has since been confirmed to come to PlayStation since you guys recorded, as I’m sure you’re aware of by now.

Superhero Jagganath

Thanks for taking my question about Persona, boyos. To Dustin- I’m not concerned about the P3 remake either, I think it’s going to be excellent (especially since they’ve clarified that they’ll be weaving in content from FES). I’m also someone who doesn’t really care about a FeMC, although I know that many Persona fans do. It just seems odd to me that they wouldn’t try to have a “be-all-end-all” version that brings everything previously created together and say “This is THE version of Persona 3 you should play.” But maybe I’m thinking about it in the wrong terms. They do have a tradition of releasing ‘enhanced’ versions of their games, but they already did that with original P3, so why do it again, ya know? (Although if “Persona 3 Reload+: Reload Harder” version has *new* content, i.e. new plot points or gameplay experiences that weren’t in any of the previous games, then you better believe I’ll be into it.)

james o halloran

Colin how could you ask for inxile to make a straight forward shooter. One of the best RPG developers of all time.

Wayde

Schools aren't teaching kids to be gay lmao. By your logic schools are teaching kids to be violent as well because they have contact sports. Your type of rhetoric is dangerous

Pasqual Ribot

If Embracer has cancelled KCD2 I will fucking riot

Travis B

Chris: “They are not targeting children” Gay choir of SF: “ You think we're sinful You fight against our rights You say we all lead live you can't respect But you're just frightened You think that we'll corrupt your kids If our agenda goes unchecked Funny, just this once, you're correct We'll convert your children Happens bit by bit Quietly and subtlely … We're coming for them We're coming for your children We're coming for them We're coming for them We're coming for your children For your children” -A Message From the Gay Community Lyrics Not my words, but theirs.

PRETENTIEUX

They are already literally teaching this crap to children. School teachers vastly overrepresent a particular ideological viewpoint. Kids are being groomed when they are told that there are people who are born with a pp or a vv that aren't really a boy or a girl, but something else entirely. Their innocence is being stolen from them and sacrificed to the idea that mankind is god and can choose his/her/their/abcdefg+ own destiny entirely and that on top of that, their sexual preference is the most important thing about them. All of this completely destroys a child's ability to distinguish reality. They are taught that reality is created through social acceptance, not the revelation of essential truth. 1+1=2 is extremely offensive to someone trying to get to 3.

Adam Barnes

Chris is so off base. They’re not just recognising pride, they’re shoving it down little kids throats and going way beyond the line of what’s acceptable to talk to children about.

Travis B

Indeed. I worked directly with kids for 10 years and have seen the ramp up first hand. Are gay people inherently groomers? No of course not. Is PRIDE INC. ? Absolutely.

Ib Saint

City Skylines has great controller support.

Brannon H

Great episode fellas. I was on the fence for Final Fantasy 16 because I've never really enjoyed the series but the demo changed my mind. It really felt like it explained perfectly what the game is. I now have no worry about buying it day 1 and I really hope this becomes the new trend for big game.

Dennis

Chris was on point during the political conversations this episode. I know not every one in this comment section agrees and that's fine. But he seems to have a good grasp on how to talk about all these culture war issues in my opinion. And thanks for reading my "Persona xbox Embargo" comment Colin. I never thought any Atlus games would be exclusive btw, but the 2 days where Atlus has to be silent on the multi platform status are really weird.

Gareth Handa

Colin - great call on the Embracer prediction. You should be a consultant for these big companies!

Maxx Lazos

shout at chris for bringing nuance to the activision discussion. Such a great discussion with respectful pushback and thoughtfulness from all three of you. I love Chris’ perspective on Pride

Anonymous

It’s amazing how many people buy into the outrage culture, clickbaiting articles designed to keep us all at each others throats for engagement. All I would say is you’re just giving the Zucks of the world more money by continuing to feed the hate machine. It would probably benefit you greatly to find something more positive and productive to do with your time rather than buying into this culture war bullshit.

Deemac

Yep, I've never played a Final Fantasy so naturally wasn't sold on the game, although intrigued. The demo has now made it a day 1 buy for me. One of the best examples in recent memory of the power of a good demo.

Noah Friscopp

I see the 1000 planets thing as basically the equivalent of all the dungeons and random places the dynamic quest system sends you in their recent games. Instead of “there is a lion in that cave causing trouble” it will be “go to this planet and take care of X”

Matthew Guilford

Just a side note. The Xbox showcase featured female lead characters in almost everyone of their games. Kotaku is a terrible mess, just look at their comments section.

Gabriel Baker

If Starfield ran at 60FPS it wouldn’t be a Bethesda game, it would be Far Cry in Space. Which does sound awesome, but not as awesome as a Bethesda game in space.

Caz

Although I disagree with Chris, I totally agree with your comment. Chris seems like a really good, principled dude.

Dan Sing Izzy Rae Lee

I wholly disagree. Chris pretty much dismissed the idea of any grooming going at these schools. That's what the parents at Glendale were fighting about. You don't need strangers who work for the government, in a government building, teaching government propaganda tell your children about LGBT anything. Those SEXUAL preferences don't exist without being centered around who a person is going to fuck, and kids don't need to know about orientation period. That's up to the parents to talk to their kids about. Lastly, Chris being okay with family friendly drag shows is disgusting. Might as well accept family friendly orgies next.

Dan Sing Izzy Rae Lee

Unfortunately too many soys on here eat up pride like it's a human right. The right to fuck who you want (which doesn't exist) doesn't belong in school curriculum, and ppl on here will make excuses trying to distinguish sexual orientation as some kind of position you hold culturally, politically , and individually. The problem is those orientations don't exist without the concept of the sexual interaction. It's like trying to separate inertia from physics, or bonded hydrogen out of a water molecule. The sexual act is intrinsically linked to whatever queer identity these people espouse, and they lose that detail when trying to translate those beliefs into some political stance. That's like forming political philosophy on fisting and why it's a human right that fisters should be allowed some kind of space in society.

Michael Mashpotato

Atlus is smart to take the money from Microsoft. Those Atlus games will sell a ton on PS5 regardless.

PRETENTIEUX

@Ebis I don't get why it's so hard for people to understand what you are saying here.

Gabriel Baker

How so? I’m simply saying if Bethesda sacrificed critical parts of what makes their games unique, those games would blend in with the rest of the AAA open world games.

Maxx Lazos

Maybe not to you. I’ve been to drag shows with my wife a few times and there have been kids accompanied by their parents. Now whether I disagree that kids should be there or not is irrelevant. But if you’ve never been, you literally do not know what you are talking about my friend. The kids were having fun, nothing was forced on them, the language of the performers and patrons was also monitored to make sure it was kid friendly. drag is about the art form of personal expression. dance, music, athleticism, and challenging notions of the societal status quo and after the show the performers mingle with patrons and their kids and it’s really wholesome and kind. It’s not about sexualizing kids or whatever. But go ahead and keep living in your bubble homie, i’m sure it’s comfy!

Anonymous

Tough to say due to the lack of clarity in the original comment, but when I hear comments like leaving kids alone my assumption these days is that it is directly related to pushing kids who are far too young to be making a life altering decision to transition, not two dudes kissing each other. Regardless, appreciate the nuanced conversation fellas 🤘🏽

Anonymous

some of the comments about the pride discussion on here are wild and makes me feel unwelcome in the LSM community which im sure is not what the boys wanted to happen

MarkGrouch

Big ups and big thanks to Chris for speaking his mind during the NickMercs discussion.

MarkGrouch

Boy do I feel that. Lotta crazy shit openly said and allowed to fester.

Anonymous

like the boys are free to speak there mind and they always do with respect. i love it when they talk about this stuff and i want them to in the future still but some of this comment section is proof to me that we still have a long way to go with acceptance

Nik peltier

Xbox doesn’t have unified cache on the cpu. Probably why starfield can’t hit 60fps. So there is an argument that the PS5 could hit 60fps at 1200 or whatever they’re running starfield at.

Drew Sleezer

Hey lads, In response to the FFXVI performance conversation, SE has confirmed a day one patch specifically targeting performance. Additionally, they mentioned 3 other changes based on demo feedback, though I wouldn’t assume these are in the day one patch. • Adjusting motion blur and the ability to turn it off • Camera movement speed and an option to turn off auto-follow • Key bindings

Anthony Palerino

Man some of these comments make me sad in regards to the pride discussion. Colin and Dustin had fair viewpoints that seem like a reasonable right leaning perspective on pride, and I loved Chris pushing back because Nickmerc’s implication is really really strange. I love LSM for being an open and accepting community of all viewpoints and backgrounds. Let’s treat each other well!

Jeremy Seal

Neil said he wanted to make a last of us games that fans of the first game would hate. Why do creators have to this? Joel had no respect in that sequel, and I thought part 2 sucked.

Austin DuBose

Colin, I'll put in a good word with our Boar's Head reps loll

Jason

Chris: you obviously don't know many people currently with kids in the public school system. It's not just "acknowledging pride" It's a month long event where teachers are shoving sexuality into kids faces when they should be just going to regular school.

YaBoyStevieJay

I’m always amazed by the complete lack of self awareness of how limited one’s personal perspective is. Just because you didn’t personally see any negative discourse around whatever topic, does not mean that it “doesn’t exist”. Luckily Chris completely saved the discussion by acknowledging it does exist, but it’s not the majority and it’s dumb that Kotaku chooses to focus on it, despite everybody knowing they do it because it gets clicks.

Adam Barnes

Well that’s not cool, and as one of the people to the right side of the aisle, I’m sorry. I think the comments section got a little out of hand, and it’s way too easy to fly off the handle and say cruel things when you’re not talking directly to someone in person. I want everyone in this community to feel welcomed and to stick around, I love you all, and when we disagree we should use it as an opportunity to grow and learn from each other. I’m going to go through the threads and delete any comments I’ve made that I can find. Again, my apologies - please stick around!

David D

Fair play to Chris on the NickMercs situation. I appreciate too the nuance of the discussion from everyone, it wasn't as toxic as some of the comments on here - I do have to respectfully push back a little on what you were saying Colin. In terms of identity I agree that we should treat individuals as individuals, and not as a checkbox, but for some people their sexuality is a big part of their identity, or they make it part, and if they're comfortable doing that then I say go for it! We are afterall a result of multiple factors, our upbringing, our community, the language we speak, religion, education and of course sexuality. I know people who are gay etc and for them pride is a great time of year to connect with other people in the community, and it's always been a positive force for good in their lives, although the stigma has receeded, I still think it's there depending on where you are, even in the developed world - but once again I appreciate it's a nuanced topic, I just felt there was a bit more to be added.

If the accessibility of the product that I own is what matters most, why is there no way for me to transfer or sell my digital copy to someone else?

YaBoyStevieJay

This comment section is exactly why Colin has a reputation for his audience being full of crazy right wing people. Just reprehensible on all accounts.

Adam Barnes

Yeah dude, fuck anyone with different beliefs than yours. Absolute cunts

Anonymous

Gay people are fine. Pride is a political movement that is coming after kids.

YaBoyStevieJay

Exactly. Fuck anyone with a “gay people are grooming children” belief. You clowns love to disguise your bigotry as “it’s just a different belief bro.”

TexasTaterSalad

*Colin not be completely ignorant of lgbtq issues challenge impossible* However, he did actually listen to Chris explain with more nuance which is appreciated

Jason

Yeah there's a lot of year round schools, a lot of day-care facilities, and a lot of summer school as well. All of these have fallen victim to hoisting up all things 'virtue signal' and 'woke'. (wouldn't be a big deal if it weren't such a big deal)

Robbie Cooper

Sony has to have games at 60fps but Zelda or any Nintendo shit game can be at 15fps and that’s fine and dandy. I enjoy the conversations for the most part sometimes you act like you know everything and that your word is golden. I’ve played more games than most so I know what I’m looking for as far as quality goes.

Alec Davis

I wish you guys did some reading about the nickmercs situation before speaking on it

Lmfao this comment section is a nightmare. If you've unironically told yourself the LGBTQIA+ community is a child grooming agenda as a fake moralistic scapegoat to justify your disdain for the gays and trans folk, just drop the act lmao. Wear your hatred on your chest like a target so we know there the Boot goes.

MomsLikeMe

Quit being a muppet. You’re misrepresenting the primary concern of most, which has nothing to do with gay people lmao. It’s pervy middle aged men dressed as women that are one bad week away from offing themselves sloppily dancing and waiving their junk around in the faces of children. You think that’s fine because you’re a defunct, purposeless man who wakes up relieved every day you manage to hit the jackpot and avoid the overwhelming odds that were stacked against you from the moment of your birth.

YaBoyStevieJay

Lmao. I love hearing Fox News propaganda parroted back to me. It’s amazing how much they’ve brainwashed you into thinking these nonexistent “problems” are a detriment to society.

MomsLikeMe

Fox News? Brainwashed? That’s your rebuttal? Is this Facebook? Am I talking to a Gen X’er right now? Get a hold of yourself man. Why would you hit send on that? Word of advice — which you clearly didn’t get enough of growing up — silence is your buddy. You’re clearly a little rusty up top and every time you speak it reminds everyone of this. The statistics say you’re probably not easy on the eyes either and have a shitty job. It’s best for you going forward to keep a low profile. Sincerely, I don’t know how you made it this far. You’re kinda right. Weirdos dancing in front of children for money is actually not a problem for you. You have much bigger problems to wrestle with. I’m assuming you don’t have your life put together but if you do, sell the rights to Netflix because that’s a helluva against all odds triumph you should be very proud of. And hold onto it dearly. You can’t beat the odds forever.

YaBoyStevieJay

Lmao. Truly hilarious. Just a word salad of the lamest insults I’ve ever heard. Not worth my time. I’m going to go enjoy my life now. Good luck with your meltdown over the existence of drag queens, I think? It’s not clear what you’re actually mad at, but it never is with you clowns.

MomsLikeMe

Turtling up is akin to understanding your limitations and choosing silence so it seems you’re already taking my advice, which is very good news. I’ll leave you with this buddy. Something to chew on. Something to ruminate on… if nobody in your personal life — sincerely — cares what you have to say or what you believe, why do you think an Internet stranger will? I don’t know how many QAnon crazies and conservatives with IQs of 75 you’ve had to engage with to make YOU OF ALL PEOPLE so self assured, but they have done you a massive disservice. You ain’t the kinda guy would should be strutting around, head held up high with your neck exposed. Going to drag queen shows for entertainment is your lane. You’re not the kinda guy who should be moving like you’re moving.

You obviously read it. And I appreciate that you did as I know that for someone with your reading level that probably took several minutes. I understand reading is an everyday struggle for you, but don’t give up!

Greg Hommel

Chris, don’t be, or pretend to be so damned obtuse. Children should not be taught about homosexuality in school. Children should not be taught about heterosexuality in school. If you think it is OK to specifically teach kids about homosexuality, presenting it with rainbows and parades and colors, and lots of information about how normal and awesome it is, then you just flat do not understand how children think and are impressionable. That is what Nick Merced was speaking about. He was absolutely correct.

Sex ed has been around forever in public schools. And parents have been able to review the material and opt their kids out if they choose. But keep clutching your pearls.

Owen

I stopped listening to Sacred for a while. Stay because I like the Dukes. -- Colin saying he's not so sure there is still a stigma with being gay has to be one of the most ignorant takes I've ever heard from this podcast. Feel like Chris should have gone off more... Think the conversation got shut down with Colin having the last word, and that last word was telling gay people that's not a defining point who they are... Just awful. But anyway, I don't think I'll be returning to Sacred any time soon as long as these are the types of conversations occurring on it. I'll continue to stay for the Dukes.

Being gay shouldn't be what identifies you I'm bisexual and I'm not proud to be bisexual just like I wouldn't be proud to be straight I just wish we would focus more on teaching children to love themselves instead of confusing them. Whether it be through school or social media.

Owen

Where did my comment mention children? No where.

Hayden Mendivil

Here to thank Chris, genuinely needed to hear that. Please keep defending LGBT+, I know it helped me a lot.

Greg Hommel

Sex education is to teach the biological process of sex and conception. Not preference. Which should and does take place at the average point of puberty. The goal has, historically, not been to indoctrinate.

Greg Hommel

Brother, homosexuality is an alternative lifestyle. Period. Everything else must start with that truth. Every right fought for and every acceptance expected must come from that point. If I decide to wear socks and shoes on my hands, I will be prepared to deal with the people that don’t understand and stand up for the way I choose to live. My goal would never be to convince others that it is perfectly normal to wear socks and shoes on one’s hands. I don’t mean to trivialize anyone’s identity, but my analogy is significantly less important yet similarly confusing to someone that believes you should only do things the traditional, intended way.

Adam Barnes

Being straight isn’t a defining point of who I am, so why would being gay? 😂 what the fuck?

TheMuff1nMon

Except being homosexual isn't a choice. So your analogy makes no sense because you literally say "If I decide". Wearing socks and shoes on your hands would be a choice, being gay isn't.

PluuusRyan

Mentioned on Youtube and also want to repeat here: today the US Supreme Court ruled that businesses were constitutionally protected from having to provide a service to LGBT people based solely on that identity. The real impact of acceptance to these people and these communities is not whether Lockheed Martin or countless other corporations use Pride branding; it is these real, political mechanisms that have been exploited to effectively say they are second-class citizens. In 2023. I implore Colin to do some deeper reflection on this topic.
