Mais I ask a Question? If I wanted my armour to be darker than that. Let's say Khorn red as lightest colour. Will I need to reduce the application of Evil Sunz or do I really need to forget this Idea?

Julian Hunt

When working with a darker theme or in a more shaded area of the model, it's important not to lose visual interest. This often happens when people highlight an area less because it's to be darker. Really though, the highlights aren't just adding brightness, they're also adding depth and texture. I would recommend, if you wanted to do this style, but darker, to consider using mephiston red (GW) instead of the evil sun's scarlet, but maintaining the number of layers. In addition, you'll want to glaze over it with the gal vorbak red and push the shadows with some corvus black or abbadon black. This will keep the number of times your brush touches the mini the same, but also keep the color darker. If you're pushing into black in the shadows, it may also be useful to introduce edge highlights in those areas with a pale purple added to your red so you can still pick out the shapes. I know your comment is 5mo old, but I thought I'd provide some food for thought if you're still out there looking for tips. Would love to see whatever you come up with :)
