I have to commend F murray Abraham and Robert Loggia in this. They didnt even attempt accents whatsoever and nobody batted an eye that these two are clearly italian americans from new york with spray tans.

I think Hannah had the point of the film. The whole film is about excess in a way. The film is over the top on purpose to show how the excesses of the american dream or tonys warped perception of it and how it corrupts. Remember in the beginning, tony says that he learned about america through movies which only fed into his idealized image of america. Add on that being oppressed most of his life by the brutal Castro government in Cuba and joining a gang in cuba only wrped his sensibility further. Tony Montana is evil. He's a monster, he's a hypocrite he has that strange sexual relationship with his sister and is also a racist and a murderer. There is no redeeming qualities about him until he refuses to kill the children. He has limits and his own code which makes him compelling but it doesnt redeem him. Even the world is yours is brilliant because it comes from a pan american flight ad. He doesnt even care but those words are etched into his brain and drive him. Thats why its so brilliant that he dies in the end because you see how his own personality brought him to that end and the mistakes he made along the way.

This was a great watch with you guys. I also love this film, this is Al's legendary role. I am so surprised but glad you hadn't seen it, it's a pleasure to see your first time reactions! GOODFELLAS has to be one of the ones you do soon, it's just like this film, and I actually like it even more than this one!
