You guys should watch 300 Part 2, which shows how the Greeks won the war!

If hannah sees this, when Leonidas says to Ephialtes "may you live forever" in spartan culture death is the ultimate glory, so he basically told him he hopes to never find the glory of death to that traitor

This movie is for sure in my top 5 favorites of all time. In the Army, I read the book Gates of Fire which is what Thermopylae translates to and I was immediately enthralled. Then, reading Frank Miller's epic graphic novel secured this story to ultimate historical fantasy for me. In the real battle, it was actually a two part fight. Half of the battle took place on the land and the other half on the sea. A greek named Themistocles, took a small navy and blocked the persians from routing the Spartans by the sea. That is what the sequel is about and it's actually pretty good. The scene where Leonidas yells for the Persians to come and take their weapons is based off of what happened when Xerxes sent a messenger demanding an offering of earth, water and their weapons. Leonidas' scribe chiseled two words onto a stone tablet..."Molon Labe" which means come & take them. There is still a stone tablet in Greece that states, "Go tell the Spartans, stranger passing by, that here, obedient to their laws, we lie." And a giant statue of Leonidas. It's an epic that is larger than life, similar to that of William Wallace. Loved this reaction as a celebration for 100k!

Loved this! Spartan women were actually considered to be just as important as spartan men in their culture. They really did believe that only spartan women could birth real men. The first women to participate in the olympics were Spartan, they were just as physical and strong as the men. The movie definitely changes the queens character to fit modern ideas of ancient women but it’s still an amazing movie! :)
