Drawing

Octopuses have very long, flexible and complex-looking legs. To avoid looking too complicated when silhouetted, characterizing them makes their legs much shorter than they actually are. At this stage, I always agonize about how much I want to deform the animal.

I've painted blue ringed octopus a few times. I personally like them because they are so small, cute and colorful, but they are actually very dangerous octopuses because they are so toxic.

Just many blue ringed octopus. Yellow and blue are one of my favorite color combinations.

And this is polka dot octopus color thumbnails.

Thank you!

Thank you! The blue ringed octopus is really dangerous, so don't touch it if you come across it in the wild lol

"I always agonize about how much I want to deform the animal." 😂 I relate to this. I love seeing all these insights into your creative process. ❤️

Thank you! Unless we draw exactly like the real thing, that part will always be an artist's task. If I transform it too much, the characteristics of the species will disappear, and if I transform it a little, it will be similar to the real thing, but I are looking for a compromise in the conflict with the style.
