Bobby’s face turned pale when he saw the dagger in my hand. “Wh-Why!? Why do you want to kill me!?”

Listening to his trembling voice made me smile. After all, he thought he was top shit when he instigated the world to hunt me down and kill me. “Because.” I began as I took a step forward, and as I did, he took a step back. “In a few hundred years, you will make the entire world chase me down and try to kill me. You will stand above my dying body with my heart in your hand, squeezing the blood within into your mouth.”

“You’re crazy! What fucking few hundred years!? Humans can’t live that long! You have lost your mind!” Bobby quickly went to turn around, but from the way he stood still, I knew Chloe was already there. I watched as he lowered his head to look at the small girl in front of him. “Why?”

“You will harm my Reni, so of course I will make sure you die.”  I heard Chloe’s voice filled with rage. Her usual cute voice was lower. The anger she felt, I could feel through the vibrations in the air.

“Chloe, don’t kill him. I need to rip his heart out just like he did to me.” I reminded the girl, who looked as if she was about to try to finish Bobby off.

Only when I reminded her did she purse her lips and take a step back while twisting the blade in her hand as she did. “I know… but I couldn’t, not, do something.”

“I know. This is why I love you.” I replied with a smile.

“You are both nuts! No wonder you didn’t have any friends!” Bobby swung his arm, trying to hit Chloe, but I quickly arrived at this side and grabbed his wrist. I then flipped him over my shoulder and smashed his body into the ground.

“You are only a mere human with basic physical strength. You are no match for either of us. But that does not mean I will allow you to try to hit my girlfriend.” I kicked him so he was looking up at me before using my knees to pin his shoulders to the ground.

I flipped the dagger in my hand as I looked at the frightened expression on the young man’s face. “You may have not done anything yet, but I can not let a weed continue to grow. If I do not pull its roots up now, I will be left with a major headache. Just know that in the future, you will be the cause of my demise but are only now getting retribution. I do not wish to die again, so only you can die.”

I tapped my chin with the tip of my dagger before realizing something. “It’s strange, You are about to die, yet you do not call for help? Why is that? Ah, right….” I smiled and gave Bobby a knowing look. “You thought you were going to get to fuck me, so you brought me to a place no one would hear us, right? So even if I were to yell, saying I did not want to do it anymore, no one would come running to save me. It seems your sick fucking mind is still as twisted as it was when I died before. I see… I see! Hehe….”

“You are fucking crazy! Let me go! If you kill me, you will not live easily!” Bobby still did not seem to understand his situation. Even as he struggled under me to try to wiggle free and knock me off him, he still thought of himself as superior to everyone else.

“Even if I am crazy, that has nothing to do with you since your life is now over.” I smiled brightly as I stabbed my dagger down and began carving a hole in his chest.

“AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! Fuck! Someone help me!” He finally screamed. His face was red. His eyes were filled with tears. Snot dripped from his nose as he continued to cry out. But I had already shut his cries out as I continued to cut his flesh. I cut and cut and broke the bones until I could finally see the beating heart within. I put my dagger aside as I reached out, stabbed my hand into his chest, and grasped the pulsating object within.

Bobby’s eyes bulged as he cried out, but it was quickly muffled when Chloe stomped him in the face, breaking his nose and most of his teeth in the process. The little wife seemed to have an issue with controlling her strength still. She almost crushed his head.

I looked at the heart in my hand and then down at the now swollen face in front of me. I smiled, and with my free hand, I patted his forehead and said: “Now…. You die….”

Just before he died, I crushed his heart, making it the last thing he would ever see.

I tossed the heart aside and looked up at Chloe, who was staring at the bloody mess. I couldn’t help but worry for her a little as I asked: “Are you okay?”

“Mmm…. But your clothes. You need to change them.” Chloe said as she took her backpack off and opened it up. She took out some water and alcohol. Then, a set of clothes all the way down to the underwear.

“You really thought of everything.” I smiled and began to strip. With Chloe’s help, I was washed up and cleaned. As for the body and bloody clothes, we poured three gallons of vodka on it all and lit it on fire. Chloe’s once full bag was now empty.

We quickly left the building after making sure there was enough kindling to keep the fire going for a long while. When we reached back at my house, it was already 7 a.m. We still had an hour’s ride to get to the airport. After making sure we had everything, we headed to the main ave to catch a cab.

“Hey Reni, it seems no cabs are driving by. I haven’t seen a bus either.” Chloe’s words made me wake up from my inner thoughts as I looked around and frowned. Normally, this street had nothing but cabs, but today, it was completely void of them.

“Something’s not right….” As I said this, my phone rang.

“Baby, are you at the airport? Are the flights there still running?” My mother’s voice entered my ear.

“No. I am still trying to get to the airport now. My flight is not until 9. What’s wrong?” I was starting to feel like something was really, really wrong.

“I don’t know, but I am here at the airport now to check on flight times, and all flights are canceled. There is no news about it either. And what’s strange, all cabs and metro are all down as well.” My mother’s words confirmed my worries. No cabs. No metro. Metro was the buses and trains that ran through the city. Just knowing this, I couldn’t help but panic a little.

“This is not good…. Mom… I need you to listen to me. I need you to listen to me now. You need to go back home. No… not just home but to the basement of your building. No pets, no animals of any kind can be with you. I will try to figure out how to get to the West Coast as soon as I can. I know that I might sound crazy, but please just trust me. Drag Dad with you and hide out in the basement.” I probably sounded like a lunatic, but I had no choice. I had to figure out a way to keep my parents alive until I got there.

“Reni, are you okay? Why should I go to the basem…” I cut her off as I yelled into the phone. “Just fucking do as I say! Please! I love you.” I then hung up. I knew if I continued to sit on the phone, I would get nowhere. I looked at Chloe, who was holding my hand, and took a deep breath. “Let’s go. We need to get ready ourselves.”

I do not remember if the buses and other services were running on this day since I actually did not leave the house. So I have no idea if I might have created some kind of butterfly effect, but I do know that right now, fana was about to appear in this world.

“Reni, are you okay? Your phone is ringing off the hook.” Chloe pulled me to a stop.

“It won’t change anything even if I try to talk to her now. All we can do is hurry back to my place and get ready. Chloe, we can only think about our survival now.” I replied as I turned and began pulling her along. I had only brought a short sword and daggers with me, which were all packed away, but now it seemed my real weapon would be getting a bit of a workout.

“Reni, what’s going on?” Chloe asked. Her voice was now filled with worry.

“All flights in Sanfran are canceled. The cabs, the busses, the trains, all of it. Nothing is running. This means our flight is also canceled. We need to get ready. For the next two months, we will end up fighting nonstop with very little break time. So be prepared. Everything we have been training for is about to flood out of the gates and run right over us. But don’t worry. I will be here to help you. We will both survive.” I held Chloe’s hand tighter.

We slowly made our way back upstairs and entered my apartment. My mother kept calling my phone, but I ignored it. I need her to think about what I said. As long as she listens, then I have a chance to save them. But what I do not understand is why did they cancel all public transportation. It makes no sense. It’s like the government knows what is to come but not the exact time and was not even willing to give the public any warning.

Thank you for the chapter!

Kill.Me = Killian Merphy

Isn't this supposed to be Reni addressing Chloe? “Reni, don’t kill him. I need to rip his heart out just like he did to me.”
