Hey guys! A while back we asked you whether you'd be interested in us making some battlemats as a complement to our paper miniatures. Enough people were intersted so that we decided to give it a try, so here's our first attempt at some rather simple battle mats, made mostly with the intention of getting some feedback from you.

A few things we would love to get some feedback on:

 • The mats presented here are pretty simple terrain textures and tiles, would you be interested in more complex scenes for these in the future (featuring for example buildings and other environmental elements) ?

 • These were made with printing in mind so they are formated so that they can be printed in 8x10 sections or one big 24x20 file, however they can also be easily used for VTT. Would you be interested in seeing mats/maps that have more focus on being used for VTT in the future?

  • These mats here are only square gridded, would you be interested in hex and gridless versions too?

  •  Anything else you can think of! Let us know if you have any thoughts on these or or any ideas, either here in the comments or in our Discord!

Thanks a lot guys! (Find the files attached at the end of the post)

I love them. I know it would be easy to simply cut them down to size if we needed smaller section to build rooms, dungeons, etc, but it might be nice to offer pre-made common sizes, like 2x2 tiles, or 4x4 tiles.

I’ve been looking for something exactly like this, thank you! I’d love a grid less version for these personally. And environment-wise, maybe something deserty?

paperforge

Definitely something we could do with the ones that are tiled-based. We would need to know what are the sizes that most people want though. Thanks for your feedback!

paperforge

Thanks! Yeah, if people find these useful, there's all kind of mats we have in mind, something deserty is one for sure!

pnlrogue1

Ooh! These look brilliant! Can't wait to have a look this evening

Water would be great!

Julio

Oh, I love these! I'm fine with square grids, too, although maybe hexes might be useful for battles between large armies?

Leo

i follow numerous map makers too, some even specific to the campaigns i run, so i think spreading out your portfolio would not be very useful to me personally. the overgrown tiles are very pretty though :)

Greeat idea! Much needed! =) Hmm, I'd add some more variation or dirting up even if just a shallow one for each, now the clean ones (01, 03) seem too repetitive, but this might be because we are looking at them in a small image now and not printed large.

Leo

usually i play with a monitor laid flat on the table, so irl vtt basically. printing maps out full color usually isnt worth it for me, because of how color/printing quality and size correlate with how expensive it gets and paper is kinda prone to wear and tear (minis i can laminate, large maps not so much). i occasionally use my erasable battle map when the maps outgrow the monitor size or the terrain is not worth using the monitor because it's too simple.

Kurt

Definitely love this and hope you do more. As others stated, a grid-less option would be great too.

Bri Boldon

any way we could get some snowy ones?

Hello, the idea of these maps is very good, thank you! I'll just use them for printing, not on a virtual game table. And by the way, a question: is it possible to provide the 20x24 version in PDF so that I can print it in one go via the "poster" setting? Regarding your questions, a version with and without grid is all I need, and I'm interested in generic maps as well as more extensive ones ^^ Thanks a lot for your work!

Dave

I was floored by the results.😁

Vicky Allen

I like them. I prefer plain with the ability to add stuff - printable files like bridges, pier walkways etc would be amazing

Late to the party!I love these! I make my own dungeon tiles and have to cut and paste a lot so these are perfect. The dungeon tiles are better then what I've used and I haven't found wood or terrain like this.

DeMon

Love these. Token for Scatter Terrain. I would like to be able to take a map as a foundation and then add tokens to customize the terrain and then lock and unlock as the game progresses. Large and small boulders and clusters, large and small cave entrances, large and small treess etc.

DeMon

and yes to gridless versions...
