Hi,

regarding development of the story of SJX, I thought about the two ways to go about it.

  • Sequential Features development, like in The Princess, where new releases contain content "after" the content of the previous version. This makes replay from zero a bit dull
  • "Expanding" Feature development, where the main storyline would be expanded by each new release, also in the early game phases, so that replaying reveals new content and makes it worthwhile to replay from the start

Overall, I will reduce grinding in SJX a bit, so that replaying might have more of an appeal  either way.

Let me know, which style of adding the new features version by version you prefer.

Most games implement features as an afterthought, make sure they fit your main gameplay loop, and focus your worj on making the main gameplay loop enjoyable!! sory, did I say most implement features as an afterthought? What I meant was thta they do not even think of the concept of a main, secondary, tertiary and so on gameplay loop, which is quite frustrating >.< ... And fuck VNs ;)

I always replay every version from the start.

Yes, gameplay on rails like in normal VN is a huge turnoff for me. There must be a good gameloop and the side activities need to be integrated and not just a slapped on match 4 thingy (which I admit to have done as well with the map shift puzzle)...

Then option 2 will make it more interesting. By the way: V0.9 has a new mirror "fulfill a wish option", which will help the player in the beginning by providing him with gems, bombs or money.
