Loved your reaction, as always. I'll miss your reactions to this show almost as much as I'll miss Henry as Geralt. Not sure I'll even give season 4 a chance (assuming it ever makes it to screen). I've never read the books, but I played The Witcher 3 video game. The only insight I can give regarding Emyr is that Geralt does meet with him and is tasked with finding Ciri (who had disappeared for several years but was recently seen again). That's the main premise of the video game is finding Ciri and then, depending on the player's choices, deciding her fate. (The video games take place after the books, so these would all be future events). I know Geralt and Emyr don't like each other in the game (and depending on what happens to Ciri, that can improve or worsen), but Emyr isn't set up as any kind of "big bad." That being said, the showrunners are clearly going in their own direction with this show, books and games be damned (possibly one reason why Henry left/was asked to leave).

The visual medium actually forced them to correct one of the biggest mistakes from the books, where we only find out Emhyr is Ciri’s father at the very end, with no time to actually do anything with the twist. But of course here we’d just recognize the actor so they’re open about it, and I really look forward to what they can do with that. And this season actually takes several steps to bring the show more in line with the books, so I suspect that statement from Cavill was just a public excuse covering up some more serious issue.
