Very strong Twilight Zone vibes with this episode, with shades of Memento in certain regards. It’s as you said, although Davon seems a likeable character, the episode plants the seed of doubt and makes you ponder if he is a murderer or not. Pleasantly surprised to see Embeth Davidtz in this. Messed up what her character’s son was doing. Yeah, it was a powerful moment when Davon has the big speech at the end, particularly the moment that you said got to you where he yelled at the villagers, “You would have killed me, and my memory would be lost.” or however he said it. If I read the ending correctly, it felt like Davon was disgusted by the villagers killing Arnaud by throwing him to the walker children, and I got the impression that the show wants you to share Davon’s disgust, if so, I didn’t share his perception of how things went down. I even said, “Sorry, man. Just no scenario where this guy lives. You can't kill kids and expect to get away with it.” When watching this episode, I too went about ten minutes in silence trying to take in what I was seeing whilst simultaneously attempting to ascertain precisely what was transpiring in the episode. You say that this episode is along with the Alpha episode in being your favorite of the five episodes thus far. Me, I'd say that it’s about tied for second with the Parker Poesy Heaven Sent episode. My favorite being the Alpha episode. I share your hope that the final episode of the season will be great. I look forward to next week when I am able to see it, and subsequently your reaction.
