Now just imagine what it was like for people as the show aired, getting just that first episode and then having to wait months through the rest of the season, including that whole horrible D Squad story, for any follow up. I get wanting to start the season with a bang, but that really tested people’s patience.

Long have I waited... For your reactions to my favorite arc of The Clone Wars! I even made sure to have my coffee in my Sith coffee mug today just for the occasion. This has been my first time watching this show in chronological order. As Ryan commented previous, and as I see he’s reiterated that the first episode of this arc was the season premiere in the initial broadcast and the subsequent three episodes of the arc were months later. Having now seen it in chronological order I wish that the show had simply opened the season with the Onderon arc as it would have been an excellent season premiere, and it was much more satisfying having all four parts of this arc back-to-back without the months in between. The focus on Darth Maul and Savage in this arc is so great. I love how as you observed, Hondo is a far more dangerous adversary than one would expect, and Maul and Savage had their work cut out for them. Like you said, “Fuck with Hondo and find out. Really!” To Maul’s defense, he has been out of the game for thirteen years at this point. Shame Obi-Wan isn’t present during the moment when Hondo and his gang turn against the Dathomirian brothers, because he could have had such a great moment of sass by saying something like, “Well, Maul, that’s Hondo for you. He says he’s your friend one moment and then cuts the legs out from under you the next.” Regarding Yoda’s dismissal of Maul being a threat and Obi-Wan's personal feelings, it’s most likely a case of Yoda and the rest of the Jedi severely underestimating the depths and lengths that Darth Maul will go to in his Sisyphean quest for revenge. Your reaction to the second episode of the episode and everything to do with the Dathomirian brothers alliance with Death Watch was priceless. When you were saying things like, “Keep her fucking name out of your mouth.” or when you expressed the desire to reach through the screen and smack the shit out of the parties in question, I had to pause the video because I was laughing so hard. Much though you’re not fond of what Maul is up to, I have to say that he, Savage, and Death Watch taking control of the criminal underworld of the galaxy is awesome to see. I like to think that Maul is a trifle disappointed by Black Sun, and likely notes at one point that they put up less of an impressive fight compared to the last time he dealt with them. A highlight as well that both the Dathomirian brothers and Death Watch are preparing to betray the other, which gives a great tension to their scenes. The advantage is of course on the side of Maul and Savage because as they say, “Treachery is the way of the Sith.” Regarding Bo-Katan, she is definitely a fan-favorite, particularly because she’s not a heroic character, neither is she a one-dimensional villain. I get the impression, however, that some fans overlook some of her unsavory qualities such as her hypocrisy which is one of the major things that keeps me from liking her as much as other fans do. Also, you mention how you’ll potentially have issues with Bo-Katan, I still have issues with her from when in The Mandalorian she went after Boba Fett by calling Jango Boba’s donor rather than his father. She said that, and I yelled at my tv, “All right, lady! Now you’ve crossed the line!” So, you’ll have company in having issues with Bo-Katan. Your reaction to the first half of this arc were so superb and were worth the wait. I cannot wait to see your reaction to the concluding half of the arc next week. Thank you so much for your reactions to the first half of this arc, and it is so good to have you back, Jess. Like I say, cannot wait for next week.

There's also the issue of how she wasn't intended to be anything more than a one-shot evil henchman in her first appearance, so she's just a total jerk in that one with no sign of any hidden depths.

Tbf though Bo-Katan would kick Boba's butt! She's my fave Mandalorian as she is a grey character and exactly what I imagine them to be!

I’d like to think that a fight between Boba Fett and Bo-Katan would be roughly evenly matched, though admittedly I am biased as Boba’s in my top ten characters of Star Wars. I will say that Bo-Katan does have age and experience on her side, and in any event a fight between her and Boba would be something to see.

My favourite lightsabre battle in the Clone Wars in 5x01, with Obi-Wan v Maul and Savage in that tunnel. The last time we saw them all together, Obi-Wan was unbalanced, so quite rightly got out of Dodge. This time though, he is the Obi-Wan we all love, and is more than a match for them, what a legend. The arc that changes EVERYTHING; so much of the fallout that we see later on, stems from this plan. Pre Viszla for a non-force user, is very handy with the Darksabre, he is quite impressive wielding it. As for Bo-Katan I think she is awesome. Some of the writing in this series for her does seem a bit ad-hoc, but she is VERY Mandalorian. I'll talk about her after the conclusion of this arc is up (and I know Sesska has watched already).

Yeah, the lightsaber battle in the first episode of the arc is a good one. It’s in my top ten favorite lightsaber battles of the show. My favorite lightsaber battle of the show takes place in the final episode of this arc.

Haha I can understand why for sure! It is one hell of an episode that one, up there with ARC Troopers just for the amount of stuff that happens in it.
