As you say, this whole episode was Bobby’s hour. You say that you’d take an episode per season just focusing on Bobby and Rufus, I’d take a whole show starring the two of them and have Sheriff Mills be the friend on the force. Maybe that’d just be me, but a show starring those three and let Jim Beaver, Steven Williams, and Kim Rhodes have that spotlight is something that I’d be here for. Crowley is quite an insufferable prick that you can’t help but have a sneaking appreciation for, I agree. I’m in complete agreement of relating to Bobby a tremendous amount. You use the analogy of bleeding in a ditch, I’m the same way in that I’d be bleeding in a ditch saying, “Tis but a scratch.” and try to deal with it all on my lonesome. Not asking for help and just bottling everything up is something I do a lot as well. I think part of it is as you posit, you don’t wish to be a burden, and I would add that my mentality is that by doing so, the only person that gets hurt by my bottling up my emotions is me. The highlight of the episode is Bobby’s speech where he just vents to Dean and Sam. That resonated very deeply with me. Jim was beyond excellent in that scene. Your reaction to that speech was everything I hoped it would be and then some. I also felt that moment that leads to the speech where Dean says that Bobby was being selfish. I must have had a look on my face that was similar to yours in that moment, and I said, “...Fuck did you just say?” Like you said, Bobby is owed all the respect in the world. I got so invested and frustrated by Bobby not being able to enjoy the peach cobbler, and in the latter half of the episode, I yelled, “Give Bobby one moment of peace so that he can enjoy the peach cobbler, Goddamn it! I don’t even like peach cobbler, still, let this man have his peach cobbler, for fuck's sake!” Other highlights of the episode were the woodchipper scene, which had me in stitches. The revelation that Crowley’s son is named Gavin MacLeod, to which I had to keep myself from laughing my ass off on that one. Then there was Rufus having the aka of Luther Vandross and Ruben Studdard. I made a face like the one you did at that point in the reaction. This was I would say your best Supernatural reaction, or at the very least, it’s the Supernatural reaction that I enjoyed the most, especially because of how much you really loved the episode. This reaction was superb, Jess. I cannot thank you enough for it.

I’m glad you noticed that Jensen directed this episode. I was going to mention it. He went on to direct a handful of others over the remaining seasons. He even directed Jared in an episode of his new show earlier this year. I bet those two had a great time on set together again.
