A controversial episode for sure, but I love it. I'll be interested to see your reaction since most of the hate towards it was because of the previews - people thought they were getting a different episode to the one they got, noone knew Clara was coming back. But since you go into your episodes blind (as you should) you may have different expectations

Hell Bent seems to be a 50/50 some hate it, some love it episode. There were a few good moments but overall it was a disappointing series finale. The main bad points for me were Clara coming back despite having a good death in Face The Raven & the long awaited return of Gallifrey is handled very poorly to say the least.

I like this episode. It's a bit of a letdown from Heaven Sent, but how could it not be? One more good Clara and the Doctor episode to finish the season. Clara's my favourite companion, 12 is my favourite Doctor. One more time.

A decent episode with some really good and moving moments, but a bit lackluster for a finale. I don't love it, but i don't hate it either. I feel the ending is a bit misunderstood.

Dammit, I knew I should have taken this Friday off work. This episode gets a lot (and I mean a LOT) of hate - I'm suspecting it's more to do with what they thought this episode was going to be more than what it actually was. Personally, I like it - it resolves a lot more about the season arc than you can say about some of the other finales and sticks the finger right up to RTD for what he did to Donna plus the structure of the episode with it's framing scenes is genius.

I have no name

The Closest we ever got to a Classic style regeneration where the Timelord is laying down

'Closest'? Watch the Tenth Planet again - Capaldi's close up is -exactly- the same shot as Hartnell's was.

Evan!!

I don't love this episode but I think it's very very good?

Ian Smith

I don't get the hate for this episode either. It's not a particularly good finale, but I enjoy it's structure. As for the disappointment some people felt about the return of Gallifrey - had they forgotten (or,more likely, never watched) the Gallifrey stories from the Classic era? The Doctor never had any time for the dictatorial beurocracy of his home world;and regarded it as a pain his side. Sure,he had loyalty toward his Homeworld to an extent - but it was very apt that, after finally making it back to his planet again,he discovers that it's just as much a dictatorial beurocracy as it ever was. Moffat himself said that he wanted to reintroduce Gallifrey, simply so he could get it out of the way again;because there was nowhere to go with it.
