awesome stuff Destin. As an engineer on ISS, this video in particular hits home - there are so many nameless, faceless engineers that put in time for something as giant as the ISS... and to see it get built...at sea... and work, is really something. I love that you took the time to feature the engineer here. Not sure if you have read "Riding Rockets", but in there, he talks about one of the Apollo astronauts taking the time to go talk to the engineers and technicians whenever he toured the facilities and how big it made them feel. In truth, they are many in number, but are also the most important part of mission success. As an aside, if you like mechanisms, you should check out the "Lyappa arm" from the MIR space station. Very clever indeed. Thanks again. Great stuff.

Chills Destin! Got chills watching that. Really really good. I hope we meet some day. I was thinking a while back how weird it is that I feel like I know you and your family as friends. Yet, the day I see you on the street you'll get a hug from a man you've never met and It will be awkward for both of us. :)

Just awesome as always, loved that you are making so many great connections and giving us such an insight into things. :-)

This may just be my all time favourite SED video. Just awesome. I know I'm contributing already, but I felt the need to actually say, "thanks Destin".

That is wicked!

Destin, I'm a machinist, and I have to say that the prints you showed for the o-ring grooves were pretty cool. I was surprised by how loose the tolerance was though. I've had to hold o-ring grooves to .0002 of an inch. Seeing this makes me want to find the engineer who designed the parts I make and tell him, "This saves astronauts lives, and it's an order of magnitude easier to build. Isn't two thou close enough!?" Thank you for making us all smarter every day!

Destin, your videos just get better and better. Thank you for making such wonderful material.

I used to work at a place that made hydraulic compensators. The machinists there would sometimes REMOVE material in a way that would plug a hole better. They basically changed the surface finish on the material and it would seal better. They were using lapping compounds and polishing in the .0002 region like you say. It's hard to even use micrometers at that level!

Wow! Excuse this simple expression of my astonishment. I'm really lost for better words in the face of this excellent creation of yours and the highly deserved credits from Space :-). Amazing! Thanks for your ongoing effort to spread the fun and awe'someness of science and knowledge! This video made me increase my pledge :-).

This video is Awesome! Started watching a couple of weeks ago after I saw the Backwards bike video. These 2 videos have me hooked and I really just want to say thanks for everything you do. I would also like to agree with Levi on everything he said. First time I got chill like that in awhile. Thanks

Your man needs to take lessons in communication techniques.
