Hello my lovely Patrons! I just wanted to take this opportunity to say hi, and to ask how you are all doing. I am aware that I haven't checked in with you guys in a while, so I thought it'd make sense to offer up this update and let you guys know what I've been up to and what's going down with me.

First of all, all podding is going according to plan! I recently drew a release schedule up in my messy little copybook, and I plan to transfer it over to the website or somewhere else soon, so you guys can see what's to come with WDF and what you can look forward to.

Second, episode 5 of 1956 is out tomorrow, so look out for that! I hope you've been enjoying the series so far. I have been told that it's been a tad confusing with the Korean War running side by side, but hopefully this isn't too much of a problem. You won't be surprised to learn that since I underestimated this series, I will be releasing a great deal more of it than just two episodes a month! From April, you can expect the equivalent of an episode of 1956 every week! Which brings me to my next point...

Third, am I overwhelming you with too much content? After making that mock-up schedule I mentioned earlier, I was made even more aware that our release schedule will become very active over the next year, and I wanted to know how you feel about that. The last thing I want is to suffocate you guys with content, so if I feel that this is the case, I may get a poll or something going, and we can find a way to sort this out. This will be especially pronounced for Patrons, since all upcoming series will be hosted on the Xtra or Axxess feeds, while normal listeners will have some degree of separation. Some of you guys don't mind I'm sure, but others have said it can feel like there's too much going on at times, so I wanted to pick your brains!

Fourth, I have mentioned this elsewhere, but WDF is my only job for the moment, as my other part time job ended. I'm not at all upset, so I don't need any sympathy, and I am looking for another job right now of course. This job will require certain criteria, above all it will have to fit in with this podcast, because I simply do not want to compromise on its quality or on the time I dedicate to it. Maybe that's unrealistic, but I wanted you guys to know that you are my priority going forward.

Fifth, I wanted to say a huge thanksss to you all for your continued support. Recently we passed $1,300, meaning that we're less than $200 away from hitting our $1,500 target - which is huge! I have an aim to hit that target by August 2018, since we will then be 18 months on Patreon, and we like milestones don't we, but we'll see how things pan out.

Sixth, you guys gave me great feedback on the Tomi Reichental interview. I have sent Tomi your feedback, and he sends his warmest regards and thanks for listening to his story in the respectful, attentive way that you all have. It really was an incredible experience to talk to a man like Tomi, so it's great that it all turned out so well in the end.

Seven, I am thinking of making quizzes for you guys, and for all social media followers in general. I am also thinking of developing a newsletter of some kind, though I don't want to bombard you with stuff. You should know, in case you weren't aware, we renovated our shop, so that it's much easier to buy merch from me!
Please do check it out.

Anything else? Not really - just that I would love to hear more from you guys. How often do you listen? Do you keep up every week? CAN you keep up every week or are you too busy? Are you active on social media? Are you interested in engaging with WDF on social media? Would you recommend WDF's Patreon experience to a budding history friend?

A huge thankssss once again. I mean that sincerely, even though I know I say it at the end of every episode. I really appreciate you for supporting me and for making this dream of mine possible. I will keep you posted as things develop over this year with new projects and a new job etc, but for now, goodbye, and I'll be seeing you all soon!

Thanks for the update Zack. I appreciate the great work you are doing. As an FYI, I may or may not end up being the only one to dump facebook this week, so I will keep up to date on the WDF news here, and on the website. I know you are working hard to build up that community, but I just couldn't participate in what I feel is the weaponization data anymore. Looking forward to listening to 1956 ep 5 :-)

I love the amount of content. But I work a night job that allows me 4-6 hrs of potential podcast listening. So I have plenty of time to keep up. Even though I do enjoy all the content I wanted to say I would not be upset if u found it necessary to dial it back a bit. For whatever reason. Keep up the great work! And thanksssss for podcasting.

I love all the new content and thanks for all the work you put into this podcast. I am especially enjoying your take on the Korean war. I look forward to all the new content. Thanksss

You're doing a great job Zack. My only problem at the moment is trying to separate the Korean War and 1956 series in my mind. I've decided to wait until all the Korean War series has been released, then go back and listen to 1956. I typically don't keep up each week, but will binge on 3-4 episodes on a long run and while working in the garden during the weekend. I love the idea of quizzes and/or a regular history blog/newsletter. These may be good ways to attract a new audience and new patrons. I'm also looking forward to your youtube channel on empire total war. I've never watched a video of someone else playing games, but I'm a big fan of the empire/napoleon total war games and would be very interested to see how a true history geek plays. I would also like to read one of your books to get a sense of your writing style, but I have been unable to find these in e-book format. Hard copies don't seem to be available in Australia. If you can think of a way to get me a copy without huge shipping fees I would be very keen to hear from you. Finally, my only concern is that the amount of content planned for release is so big that it may consume too much of your life! Especially if you are planning on undertaking a PhD which is a huge time/effort commitment. Personally I would be fine with the idea of you slowing down the releases and 'stockpiling' episodes so that you still have a steady stream of content to release when the PhD ramps up. But if you can manage both the huge content output AND the PhD then I won't be complaining - full respect to you mate! I'm not overly active on social media but I'll keep liking and commenting your posts to try and increase your exposure. Anything else we can do to help just let us know!
