I remember all the way back through all of the Hitchcock comments that Double Indemnity was always requested more often than Sunset Boulevard. Then when you reacted to Sunset Blvd, there were so many requests for Double Indemnity, which I had never seen. I just knew a reaction was going to happen so I ordered it and watched it and was disappointed in the exact same ways you were. I never wanted my opinion to spoil it for you or have a butterfly effect for better or worse. I was worried it might land the same for you and discourage you from other Billy Wilder films. Don’t count him out just yet. He still has a couple aces up his sleeve. I don’t expect you to enthusiastically run to those films, take all the time you need. Just don’t count him out yet.
