i just love these episodes. I feel like we learn so much about Dazai. one note tho: you kept saying that Dazai sucicidal tendencies were weird and annoying but Dazai's depression and wanting to die is a very important part of his character, he is very empty and sees no point to living, as he said in the episode to Oda, he partly joined the mafia because he wanted to see if being around death contantly would make him want to live: but it wasnt working he still wanted to die. Oda's message to him is all teh more heartwrenching bc he basically tells Dazai "you will never find a reason to live, nothing will fill the emptiness in your heart, good and evil mean nothing to you so you might as well be good" that must've hurt coming from a friend but Dazai takes his advice and decides to joing the ADA where he can help people. Sorry for the long comment but you really have to understand Dazai's suicide attempts are not just a weird character trait or quirk. he is very serious about wanting to die and its important to his growth and nuance as a character, it makes all the jokes about it that he makes very dark and sad.

as for the bandages coming off at Oda's death to me the bandages covering his eye shows that Dazai is like blocking himself off from the world, not seeing the bigger picture, when Oda dies and tells Dazai to help others Dazai's bandages around his eyes come off and he sees the world with both eyes for the first time! thats how i interpreted it at least. As far as Dazai's other bandages no one knows what under them or why Dazai wears them: a lot of fans assume theyre hiding self harm scars from previous suicide attempts or other scars. but its also up to interpretation bc we never find out.
