So the first 3 episodes of tanya the evil are locked behind the $10 patreon contribution level, but this one is open at the $5 level, where I am. Did you do a mistake, or clever ploy to get us to up-sub to see the first 3 episodes? ;p

In this the germany is just called Empire, more leaning into the German Empire that ended with WW1. If you look at the maps shown, its German Empire + Austria without the hungary. It has style influences of WW2. (The Flag is a combination WW2 and the Holy Roman Empire. In the Manga the soldiers look more like WW2 Wehrmacht in the anime the style of soldiers is more WW1). You could call this fictional world a "What if" WW1 didn't break out in the 1910s, but in the 20s. (Historical timeline: Holy Roman Empire -> alot of wars, invasions and factions that lead to a unification under -> German Empire -> End of WW1 -> Weimar Republic -> angry little man takes over -> Nazi Germany.)

So yeah , as someone already explained : this is neither the first or second world war , it's a fictional one (happening between the 2 WWs of our world based on the years shown in the anime) BUT it's closer to WW1 .. the story is at least ... so there is no Nazis and short man with questionable ideas :) That's why they're not doing the "things" you were thinking about

having german or european knowldge helps a lot in this anime ^^ To add what the other said is that the author wanted to know what if back in 1866 Germany and Austria would have united in a single country and not take different paths. So the empire is still a monarchy and lot of higher ups are made of real WW1 generals. Another difference is like having the Scandinavia countrys united or already having the Sowjet Union.
