Ah, crap, I did it again. I'm taking care of a new stray cat (who has a meet-and-greet with a potential adopter this weekend!), and when I stop work to care for him, I tend to forget where I left off.  I didn't mean to post this with no text.

Anyway, this piece has a bit of a backstory. I did a painted version a few years ago, but I didn't do a color sketch first, and I've told you what usually happens if I don't work it all out beforehand. So of course I didn't like it, and pinned a print of it to the wall to torture myself.  But I really liked the idea, so some time later I sketched a new version, changing the background and what she's almost wearing, and I believe I added the cat at that point. (Some of you may have seen that sketch on my Facebook page). I transferred the sketch to some watercolor paper (140 lbs. Arches hot press, for anyone interested), added some Jack o'lanterns to fit the new proportions, and--this time--did a color sketch. Maybe when this one is painted, I'll post the original with it for comparison. Maybe.

Speaking of painting, when our latest guest is adopted, I'll finally be able to clean up the spare room (and man does it need it at this point), get some shelving and a cabinet in there for sculpture storage, and put in a couple of worktables. I'll have to save up for a drawing table. But that's what I'm waiting on. I just spent the past two nights conditioning a bunch of dried out clay, so I'm looking forward to sculpting again, too. I'll attach a pic of the adorable furball currently awaiting his forever home. His name is Goblin, and he is amazing. I really want him to find a home, but I'll definitely miss him.
