This Cheesecake of Horror pinup design was originally going to be one of the October Sketches. It's a low value range study, but in the final, color version, she'll be a black cat. I might experiment with making her a calico, counting on the pumpkins to carry the Halloween context...but, I don't know...for Halloween I really think she needs to be a black cat. Plus, the broken, random calico pattern--orange, black, white--might interfere with the lines of the form. I'll probably try both, since one of the points of this series is to experiment. I might even try different colors/types of pumpkins. Have you seen the greenish-blue ones, like the Australian heirloom or the Blue Max? Those are my favorite. I always get extra pumpkins that I leave on the porch, uncarved, for as long as they last. Oh! I also love the bizarrely lobed Fairytale pumpkin, and the monstrous "warts" of the French heirloom. Where was that one when I was a kid? ...Okay, I'm done geeking out over pumpkins.
