Ooookayyyy, it's not done, but here it is. I've been experimenting with different supplies lately--in this case, a new paper that takes wet and dry media. It's a pass for me. If you look closely, the paper has a lot of visible fibers in it, which bugs me. It would be fine for looser, sketchier pieces, but not something as finished as this. For some reason the dark areas-- with heavier build up of graphite-- really reflected a lot during scanning. The darks in the original are much darker than you see here. How much of that is the scanner's fault, I can't say. I adjusted some details that reflected so much they hardly read in the scan, but it would have taken forever (and been kind of pointless) to do the whole thing. I also learned a thing or two about mixing white charcoal with pencil, but that's another story. Will I use this paper again? Only for sketching. I have some similar paper in a tan color, but I'll check for visible fibers before trying it out. If anyone knows about a good smooth-surface, toned paper capable of handling wet and dry media, I'd love to hear about it.
