I'm planning a comprehensive response to all the comments last week, but one of them referred to stories that wouldn't be completed if I stop doing comics.

Let me tell you, you have no idea.

Even if I keep doing comics, even if I devote myself to that exclusively for the rest of my life, there are so many stories that will never see the light of day, you wouldn't even believe it. As I've gotten older, that's been one of the more difficult things to deal with; knowing that countless projects will be left undone. I calculated how long it takes me to finish a project, and how many years I might optimistically have left, and had to whittle down my creative "To Do" list with a fucking ax. And every year I have to cut it down more. That's why I say--just realistically speaking--I'm likely to die without accomplishing anything of significance. You've already seen some of the titles that will never be (Scream Queens, Tin God, etc.), but I thought I'd share with you some of the countless others, starting with this one.

S.P.A.Z.: Special Protection Agent Z is the story of Agent Z, one of millions of artificially created "protection agents" who oversee law and order in a futuristic society. Unfortunately, there was an accident in the lab that produces the agents which resulted in Z being...off. Glitchy, let's say. Equally unfortunately, the agents are virtually indestructible, and can't be shut off once activated. So a regular (non-artificial) agent, a little doglike alien named Theo, is assigned to "assist" Agent Z. Theo is professional, ultra competent, and underrecognized. He basically has to try to guide Z as best he can, mitigate the damage he causes, and see that the mess left behind is cleaned up...and covered up. I probably don't have to say it, but Theo is the little guy on the top, and Agent Z is the big guy below. I need to scan some more character sketches (of a woman assigned to help Theo, and a Girl band who plays a prominent role in the first story arc), which I'll share next time.
