     Here's an example of how I work out an idea. A little bit, anyway. This is a rough sketch for a possible Beauties and Beasts piece. I had just the basic idea--a sorceress raising a demon--so I didn't want to put a lot of time into designing specifics until I had the composition down. I recalled a demon I'd drawn in another unfinished piece, so I just roughed in a version of that, then sketched in the sorceress. I added some quick indications of costume details, but again, nothing too detailed that might be lost as poses and arrangements change. This actually started out facing the other way, but I flipped the image and liked it better this way. If you know my work, you know that faces and expressions are very important to me. That's why the sorceress's face is just suggested at this stage. I want to accurately gauge the composition and forms before I commit to a piece, and if I'd sketched in a face I really liked, it might have swayed me unduly. I do like this design, so you'll probably be seeing a finished version of it here. Ta!
