Beauties & Beasts Sketch (Patreon)

     I am going to murder my scanner. Believe it or not, there are clouds in the background of this sketch. The silhouette of the spires showed up, but...ah, screw it. 

     I love this kind of piece, with all the different patterns and textures. It's also fun implying fictional exotic cultures with those kinds of details. The creature itself is a variation on a theme that you'll be seeing more than once in my Beauties & Beasts series: shaggy, but with bony plates that seem ornamental and almost designed. It's something I did in a sketchbook once and the idea just fascinated me. But my favorite part of this guy--and this might seem weird--is his cute round, blunt tongue. Look how cute that is! It's actually designed after a cockatoo's tongue. But I don't think this guy eats crackers.
