        *Note for clarification: Unexpected work dropped into my lap last week, so I lost a good chunk of time. I knew I couldn't finish a full comic page in the time I had left, so I decided to start this commission and run it as a work-in-progress. The last page of the Boneyard short will be up next week. Promise.*   

     Here's a work-in-progress (see?) you might find more interesting than the children's book illustration.  It's a patron's original character (one of three), called Limelight.  The first of the small images shows the original sketch, as it actually appeared, showing how lightly I sketch. The second is the same image, digitally darkened. The third image is when I actually knew the piece would work: when I arrived at a face I liked. No matter what's going on in the rest of a piece, if the face doesn't grab me, it's a no-go. Then I started fleshing out the body and detailing the costume. I really like costumes with a lot of darks, as it basically spots the blacks for me. Up next: background, and gray tones!
