Drawing Glump on this page reminded me of something—stop me if you've heard this. Did you know that Glump was originally designed to be a puppet? I don't mean that there was supposed to be a fat little demon puppet in Boneyard, but rather that Glump's design was originally that of a puppet I actually got a fair way into fabricating (latex-coated, sculpted foam rubber) before getting derailed. I was planning to do a little show on public access TV (this was before YouTube), kind of a cross between Creature Features and Mystery Science Theater 3000. Glump would have been the ill-tempered sidekick/thorn-in-the-side to the show's host, the caretaker of a cemetery constantly undergoing some form of supernatural crisis. This is also where Nightcrawler's design originated. The show never got any further than the puppets and some scripts, mostly (okay, entirely) due to lack of funds. I probably don't have to point out some of the seeds that would later become Boneyard, but it may interest you to know that the show will be produced...within the pages of Boneyard. In an upcoming storyline, someone from the cemetery is going to be tapped to sub for Charli, the sexy ghoul in the tuxedo jacket and top hat, who hosts her own interdimensional horror show. Can you guess who?
