Audience Participation (Patreon)

     I think it was infernalperson who commented that he liked the audience's reaction as they watch. The commissioner did as well, and asked me to take that aspect further, as you can see. I usually try for some degree of verisimilitude in my adult stories (if such a thing is possible when writing about monsters, faeries and aliens), so the reaction of the audience here--or at least the extremity of it--is not something I would necessarily have pursued on my own. But what works about it, I think, at least what makes it funny, is that they're all so fixated on what's happening in the ring, they're basically oblivious of what they themselves are doing. That aspect kind of falls away a bit as the action in the audience becomes more overt, but there's still a consensual, almost trancelike quality to their actions. My favorite part is when Paris and Nessie first start absently fondling each other, while commenting on Abbey's skills (on the previous page).  You almost expect them to look down, realize what they're doing, and yank their hands back in embarrassment. Well, Paris, anyway. Nessie obviously doesn't need an impromptu sex show to get her to behave this way.
