     Here's another pinup color sketch, along with the original pencil sketch. I mentioned that I'm using markers on these (which are proving extremely useful, but have a definite learning curve), but I don't have complete color ranges, so I'm mixing it up with my trusty old colored pencils. Achieving smooth gradations with colored pencils is time consuming, but I'm not bothering with that here because a polished final product is not my goal. At this stage, I'm just working out color schemes and tonal values. If I'm going to screw up the colors, it's much better to do it at this stage, rather than halfway through a full painting. (And believe me, I've done that. Multiple times. Virtually every time I get too optimistic and decide to plunge ahead without doing a color study first, I regret it. I could show you some ugly, half-finished paintings...!)
