I wanted to leave a note about the kinds of adult material I do, and don't do. (And here I'm talking about my own shorts and pinups, as opposed to commissions. Commissions have their own rules, but are largely exempt from my own preferences.) Basically, the scene or short has to be genuinely erotic, which may seem obvious, but it's not. Most adult comics--to me, at least--are not erotic. There are some beautifully rendered comics out there (many technically far superior to my own), but if there's no setup, no erotic situation, it just doesn't do it for me. Two or more characters in the same place who spontaneously start boning...meh.

I think it was Brandon who commented that Bill Willingham had difficulty coming up with excuses for his characters to have sex in every issue (of Ironwood). It's definitely not easy, if you're trying to do something of quality. And yes, I'm aware that there are many who would call trying to do "quality" adult comics pretentious and pointless: it's just porn--make with the jizzings and get over yourself. But I make what I'd like to read, and that means real characters, interesting situations, and, whenever possible, humor. Extending a story like this Fire & Bimstone short is relatively simple; inserting a sex scene into, say, the issue of Boneyard in which Abbey got a chainsaw through the belly from the huge, hockey-masked summer camp killer (who turned out to be a supernatural construct of Lilith's, anyway) would be a tad trickier. That's why self-contained shorts are such fun!

I may add more to this topic as things occur to me.
