Content

Hey! This is a big special thanks to all the eager supporters who jumped on the bandwagon so early. The very first month even! Without comic content even! What's wrong with you! And hello as well to anyone new!

It means a lot to me to see so much support already, and I'm hoping the future of this account can mean as big of changes for my life as CJ is desperately in need of right about now.

That all said, I'd love to hear back from all of you on how things have been so far. Did I post enough in this first month? Did you feel your pledge was money well spent? Did I pace releases well? Did you tell all your friends to join in on watching me continue to embarrass and chastise myself for cash?

Whatever the case is, feel free to chime in, either here, privately, or on the Discord server. And If you're totally content and have nothing to say at this point, that's cool too! I'll take that as a good sign.

Some small topics of note I want to bring up when considering how to move forward with this Patreon:

1. How do you feel about the exclusivity of content here? Should content on this Patreon remain indefinitely stone-walled? Would you be troubled or feel cheated if some content were released after a few months of embargo? I'm genuinely not sure how to feel myself! Releasing stuff after a while might prove good for my advertising, visibility, and patron turnaround, but not if my supporters are against it.

-And if so, should that only apply to the scraps and random odds and ends I upload?
Should comics definitely remain exclusive when I finally get around to it?

2. Should I switch to a pay-up-front model? Instead of charging at the end of the month? This prevents people from flaking out on payments after previewing content, and doesn't change the cost at all. But it is a permanent change were I to make it. It doesn't make much difference at the moment, but worth considering.

3. Is there generally anything you want to see that i haven't considered?

Anyhow I hope everyone's been enjoying the content thus far, thanks for a great first month.

Yes 100% charge up front! As for releasing content down the road, I say yes. Maybe offer some things exclusive like alternate versions such as wet versions or a version with a onesie and without. Something that makes patrons feel like they still get something only for them. Honestly, I highly advise switching to uploading on discord and keeping thumbnails here. Sadly people will eventually leak you to yiffparty. It's a bot that once it's attached to your account, it will never stop. It instantly uploads any content you post to their site without a paywall. Discord has helped me more or less stop leaks forever. If you want any help, I'm carnival-tricks in your server!

I'm just happy I can support an artist whose stuff I love seeing! My only real criticism/request would be for you to name your files a bit differently. Many of the things I saved that you posted are just "1.png", so it makes it a little trickier on me to rename them, rather than having them all with different names as other uploaders do. Ultimately this isn't a huge deal and takes like 5 seconds of my time, so I'm not terribly bothered by it, but I just wanted to give my two cents on the matter since you were asking for feedback.

Hi, CJ! First up, I don't speak for everyone, but YES. Absolutely upload at least some of the work you produce here, eventually, on other websites. A lot of us are here just because we want to support you, but it makes sense that you'd have a surge of people that suddenly follow you on Patreon followed by a silence. You need to get this Patreon noticed without being too overbearing about it. I find that being active in the communities and making buddies also helps for artists trying to make a living off their art. I promise you, word of mouth is only gonna take you so far from here on out. That said, I think a decent incentive is keeping SOME art hidden behind the paywall. If everything that you post here eventually ends up visible for everybody, some people won't see the point of paying for exclusive content. It's a matter of picking and choosing what is and isn't seen by other people. You might also eventually want to look into rewards, once you get a greater surge of patrons and you're capable of taking on a certain kind of workload every month. And YES. Charge up-front. That is the most bonafide way to ensure people don't just snipe your art for free. You deserve to be paid for your work. Make sure you get paid. Thanks for the good work, dude.

Thanks for the feedback. That's odd because I name the files quite diligently on my end. Patreon must store the file names differently on the back end.

Really loving the content and being able to support you. Ever consider sketch raffles? Like drawing a random patron name and they can request a sketch? Just an idea. I understand if you just wanna draw what you wanna draw. <3

I think you're doing fine. You're a good role model for other creators like myself as far as consistently rolling out quality content at a reasonable pace -- so thank you!

Going to try and answer each point. 1) Seeing lower teir items be released later but comic patreon only would be a sensible idea. It would give people an incentive to use patreon. 2)If you feel the need to change to an upfront model, that is up to you. You deserve the money ya get for your art. 3) As that is a personal question, I would love to see more Nintendo character drawn by ya. The little yoshi and koopa from the paper mario series is cute. And I would love to see Bowser drawn again. ^^ Great work overall. I can't find to many issues with how things are going. ^^

1) Personally speaking I think that having nearly all of the content paywalled is a good idea, with small teasers and stuff released publically whenever you feel like it is the best bet. With maybe comic pages being released to the lower tiers after a month (or more, just throwing out examples) 2) I prefer the upfront model as it's easier to keep track of money that way heh, but just watch and see if you lose patron's around the 1st of the month 3) Diaper change scenarios mainly, Also more yoshi and koopas

1) Whatever works for you my dude 2) Whatever Works for you my dude 3) Feel free to post WIPS or doodles you make on here or the discord, it doesn't have to be a finished product to be worthy of our viewing. We just love whatever you make!

I agree with the others doing payment up front, because of notorious flakers. I HATE CushyPen for luring in fantastic artists and hiding such good content. If you wanted to release content I think that is fair, but I would lower the wait time to like 1 month, rather than so long that people forget they saw it. I would like to see catchy canon characters. Those get me because you draw cartoon characters so well and to their likeness while having your style. Rocko got me to sign up on your Patreon. In regard to the comics you could make that a higher tier, or just one more reason to sign up in general. I would suggest leaking one page a week, after the initial month, just to tease people into signing up because the comic is done and they can view it now by signing up. Unless it’s one page, 6 panel like comics. Anywho, love your stuff. I’m sure you’ll decide something that we’re happy with

1. I wouldn't really mind if the content was paywalled or not. It would probably be best if you released things after a month or so, I've seen other creators do that. 2. Pay up front so you don't get cheated out of money 3. I would love to see some small art tutorials or breakdowns on how you draw stuff <3

Ive been watching your work for a long time CJ, and to see that you made a Patreon made me literally scream. I look forward to see any and all fantastic work you come up with, and I am excited and eager to finally show you my support.
