The miniseries is based on the book of the same name, published in 1992. A lot of what happened in the show actually happened in real life, probably 98% of it. The author did his best to be as truthful as possible (from interviews of real life E Company members), however there are one or two notable factual mistakes and mis-characterizations of some people as a result of people mis-remembering and/or poor records of events.
