Since you didn't pick up on it in previous episodes, the conversation between her and Townes might not make that much sense.. BUT it's supposed to be implied that Townes is gay, and that Roger was his lover. That's why the vibe changed after he was there, and why she was upset and said "give my best to Roger" when they left, and also why he says he "was confused"!
