Hello! Another little update on Fischl! ٩(。•`◡´•。)۶

Since the last update we filled in the rest of our scenes with the missing bits of audio and finally had a chance to take a whole day and review it from start to finish. It's quite a task reviewing this much footage at once ( X ω X)

With the review done we came up with some items we need to address before it's polished and release ready. Rii did a really great job on the voice, there's just a few spots we want to give a little more feeling to so they have the impact they deserve. We'll have some retakes, do some blending, and hopefully minimal do-overs to finish those parts. A certain Fox is going to have a lot of voice level balancing to do too...

SFX are mostly done too. A few unique sounds we decided we wanted to replace, and they're important parts so we had to go hunting for some good sounds. That part is never as easy as we hope (T ^ T )ゞ But we spent most of a day on that and had some progress on some of those sounds. We also had two different "styles" of SFX for some of the penetration sounds, ultimately they just didn't mix well so we have to redo the parts with the new style to match the old style. We still have some other SFX to hunt down to replace a few spots too.

We have a few little ideas for improving the ambience as well. We put together some tracks for it and will have to review again to see if it works out the way we hope. It should sound really nice if it does (。> ‿ ◕。)

The audio editing at this point is basically a one person job though (and Rii's recordings of course). Too many cooks had its challenges we found. You can guess who will be working on that still /ᐠ. ̫ .ᐟ\ But that will leave Shuro and Neko free to make some progress on Melody still.

Speaking of Melody...

It will take a little time to finish revising and re-recording some audio for Fischl but we really don't like having so much time between posts. As promised we aren't doing any further WIPs for Fischl, but like everything else in this project it took more time than expected. As people do, we sometimes look at what's left and think "how hard could it be?" It always turns out there are some gremlins lurking underfoot that we didn't expect. And even when something is easy, sometimes it's still a massive time sink to actually do. But we want to keep you all informed and entertained regardless.

So we decided to ask all of you what you would like to see in the mean time while that Fox finishes the audio. If you want, we'd be happy to start polishing and posting the first WIPs for Melody so you have something fun to hold you over for now. If not, we can still try to give some little updates on Fischl periodically like these last couple posts. Then we'll save Melody posts for after Fischls release. We were originally hoping to save Melody for later so you could just enjoy Fischl and then enjoy the hype for Melody as something fun and new after. Double posting projects can be a little distracting and we want both of them to feel special with each update.

But in the end we leave it up to you. We know the wait is unbearable (trust me, I've been living in a cave doing audio work for 2 almost nonstop months and can't wait to finish /ᐠ. ̫ .ᐟ\). So if you want a bit of Melody to spice things up we're happy to do that. Or it can wait, and we'll just give you some updates still on Fischl.

Either way, we're just excited to be seeing a light at the end of the tunnel and to be able to share Fischl when it's all finished! ❤️(˵^ ω ^˵)❤️

You’re the best! Also finish one thing before you start another, that’s what I tell myself.

ViciNeko

Fox locked in my basement, working on sound, i've checked ฅ/ᐠ. ̫ .ᐟ\

Toloch

Even though I love Mel a lot, I'd insist it is better if you finish one project before you start another.

Autumnepi

Bro, I think stay focus is quite important. Can’t wait to see the last version of Fischls. Good work!

Omega Defender85

I'm chill with waiting cause I know you guys are cooking up a storm of a feast with Fischl :)

Alyssa

Prefer to wait for the final thing. Thanks for the updates and keep up the good work! :)

ViciNeko

We already have a lot of materials for Mel (i wasnt slacking while Kitsune and Shuro were working on sound (。> ‿ ◕。)❤️), im talking like 30+ scenes in a core(rough) state. And it wont slow Fischl even for a sec - Kitsune wont be involved too much in such WIP work for now. Still, if you want us to separate these projects/releases - i can clearly understand that (๑❛ڡ❛๑)👍

Bloodknightgames

You are all doing a great job 🤩 and as it is written in the way that makes sense then it is the best to have one project at a time to make it feel more special 😊

Voidius Astalya

Take all the time you need ^^ Keep up the good work you guys are awesome!

GregTheRipper

waiting for Slime x Fischl x Mona x Slime)

thomas thomas

May I get to your discord?🌝

Nathan Streety

I'm looking forward to Melody, but I'd rather wait so Fischl can be as good as possible.

MobyThicc

The way this is looking, it seems like kitsune must return to neko's basement once more. o7 farewell kitsune, it was nice knowing you.

Rayo

I think waiting is the call for me I wanna see fischl through 🥰 And then after we can all admire at melody I'm sure both of these will be amazing!

Hydron

Quite the interesting poll results so far... :/ Buit if they want their Omega 3s and Slime then fine. XD Based on the notes posted in the discord, I really looking forward to what kind of improvements will be put in and come out in the release version. Kitsune, keep on cooking! And Vici, I look forward to more Mel on stream! (っˆڡˆς)❤️

ViciNeko

Kitsune is the only one who works on Fischl sound now, so such Mel WIPs wont slow down the release even for a second. But i understand (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ ❤️

Tokoyami

High possibility that you will finish it this month, rigth ?

Peter Chordash

Reading these comments makes me feel like some people misunderstood the purpose of the poll. Work is happening on Melody regardless as Kitsune is tied up in the basement with audio. That's fantastic project management right there! As for getting overlapping updates or holding off Melody updates, either works. I don't think it would mess with the anticipation for Fischl. So if you were jazzed to share a Melody update, I surely wouldn't be mad.

ViciNeko

Kitsune must get some good rest after that. Sound work may look easy, but it takes a lot of time and effort too. After Fischl x Slime sound is done, Kitsune gets a lot of resting days, just to "clean the head"

白一丿

bro it's almost one year since we got last animation...

Peter Chordash

So... Is that like two different hydro slimes? Or... Is this more of a hydro and electro slime type of deal? Hazard to even think about pyro...

Nea

Keep up the good work I will wait for it but whatever you do don't let Kitsune out of the basement

NGULSCH

I really don't want to curse. It seems that you still need to send a few progress reports based on the content of your progress report. These reports have a minimum interval of 7 days, so if we calculate based on 3 reports, it will take at least 28 days. If we calculate a 14 day report as 56 days, I think you might as well announce that it will be released again next year. This way, everyone doesn't have to look forward to it every day, and you can also relax a lot.

ViciNeko

But i fail to see how it is relevant. I've never done anything even close to Fischl x Slime before, so i heavily underestimated the task ahead of us, and its my mistake to jump on something like that with such a poor initial planning. We've payed for this with a huge amount of time, but in the end we've pushed through, and learned a lot, and i mean a lot during its creation. With new project, im already working (while Kitsune is wrapping up the sound for Fischl), we've already started implementing all this experience. Melody x Lawa animation has been planned from start to finish, and we are going throw it so much more faster already. Thats why we are saying, that we are ready to start posting Melody wips already. And i hope that with Shuro joining our team, the progress will go even faster! So really cant wait to finally bring this and future releases to you! (っˆڡˆς)❤️

ViciNeko

Will do! But i really cant wait to start sharing more with you (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ ❤️

ViciNeko

We keep joking in Discord, that if we wont release it this month, our next animation will be Kitsune x Slime ❤️ ٩(๑•̀ω•́๑)۶ ❤️ P.S. We luv u Kitsune. Please do ur best, and be sure to rest properly (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ ❤️

ViciNeko

Interesting indeed - i havent expected such results really. Well, we'll have so much more to share with you after Fischl x Slime release then! ❤️ ٩(๑•̀ω•́๑)۶ ❤️ And as u saw in Discord - we've already prepared A LOT for Mel adventures (。> ‿ ◕。)❤️ So stay tuned!

ViciNeko

Thank you! We'll focus on bringing you Fischl asap then! ❤️ ٩(๑•̀ω•́๑)۶ ❤️

ViciNeko

Will do our very best to finish her absolutely asap then! ❤️ ٩(๑•̀ω•́๑)۶ ❤️

ViciNeko

For now we are still playing with hydro Slime, but we'll dive more into that lore in Mona x Fischl x Slime (๑❛ڡ❛๑)👍

ViciNeko

Well... thats pretty much accurate... XD Still, a lot of ppl seem to be voting for us to release Fischl x Slime first. Well, we'll just have so much more to share with you right after that release (๑❛ڡ❛๑)👍

ViciNeko

Fischl x Slime animation is bigger than almost everything we did before combined, so we'll do our very best to make sure that the wait was worth it! (っˆڡˆς)❤️

MobyThicc

You can keep that to yourself and stay in the basement forever!

ViciNeko

We can discuss releasing the Fox when Fischl x Slime goes live ❤️ ٩(๑•̀ω•́๑)۶ ❤️

ViciNeko

We really want to be as open with you about the progress as possible, and im really sorry, that we fail to paint a clearer picture with these. Fischl x Slime animation is finished, and sound is coming to its end, and we'll do our absolute best to bring it to you as soon as we possibly can ❤️

Atomic

I think that if posting Mel WIPs doesn't directly or indirectly interfere with FxS progress, then posting WIPs would be fine! Perfectly fine either way though, I'm here with y'all for the long haul! Keep up the great work and know you'll always have us Discord VC dwellers in your corner (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ

ViciNeko

Thats the idea! At this point of work - its a one Fox job to wrap everything up. So while Kitsune is finishing the sound, me and Shuro are already deep into Melody x Lawa animation, and already prepared a ton of materials and scenes to share with you! We really cant wait to start doing that! Still, if ppl prefer to see Fischl release first - then we'll just have so much more to share with you right after! (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ ❤️ And thank you so much! Stay awesome and see ya on our new working stream tomorrow! ❤️❤️❤️

Kilo

Really looking forward for melody and how many more weeks for fxs release ?

Matej Klecina

Bro, im saving the load for Fischl x Slime release... it has been so long since last load... this load will be the greatest in my life! :D xD

Even tho I'm excited for the melody project, I'd rather have yall take a break and use the free space you have for now. Hopefully the FischlXSlime wasn't that much of a nightmare :^ Thanks for yall hard work!!! (IM SO READY FOR THE VID)

I can't wait for the release, you've been edging us for so long but it looks like it'll be SO FUCKING WORTH IT. And with melody coming up next it's gonna be amazing

Take your time, you got this ❤️ good projects take time😍

Could you give us a clear date for Fischl🥺

Sleepnir

People seem to be wildly misunderstanding that "release WIP of next project already underway" somehow means "slow down the FxS project even a tiny bit. " It won't, guys 😅

Where_Am_I

Please provide the video without sound since it has been stated that part is completed.

vezarius7

Honestly dont see why a soundless version hasnt been posted or at least a trailer, but hey from a creator perspective you must have different views and opinions on that.

LrdNatsu

Nice to hear that things are progressing nicely hope you guys take much needed breaks in between stay healthy and safe neko team.🥰

hyeses

They probably don’t want to give false expectations anymore

Zeracheil

Can't believe how many people want to sit in the dark and get nothing while waiting for the Fischl anim. Oh well I guess lol. Also this is why I said to not even say "soon" in the last post. It's been "pencils down" for a while now, where you said you were re-recording everything so it would be up to par. Now the re-recording isn't good enough and you're recording more. Then you'll have do-overs for those too? You're also unhappy with minor sounds not mixing well so you're spending days finding sound bytes. These are things that should happen during production, not past final. Ideas are scope creep and you can't increase scope at the end of a project. It's kind of crazy to hear you talking about ideas for ambiance months after the initial expected release date. I hope you know this comes from a place of caring and wanting things to be better because I enjoy the content. Maybe I was under the wrong impression of how close this was. Hope you can work out all the kinks and find what you're looking for quickly. I want to go back to praising and enjoying all the wips during production and just having a good time each week's post.

nikki

I think take your time and go at your own pace!! We love and support the works- I personally would wait years for a post, even without updates like you do so kindly. 🫶🫶💓💖 Keep up the good work!🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️

jay lee

One interesting thing is that Now, it won't be strange at all if this work goes beyond June. I'm quite a laid-back personality, If it takes almost two years to release the main work, it will be difficult to maintain patience. You don't have to make a feature film. I prefer animations that take about 10 to 15 minutes the most. I recommend you turn down the volume for the next piece. Thank you always for your hard work.

chunnin33

You can't keep pushing the envelope for new stuff now, that's what a future director's cut is for.

unholy

wish people were more patient w this stuff, genuinely top tier content that just takes time. I want a finished polished product, not a rushed sloppy one. I'm a creative artist myself and I know how it is to want be top notch, even if it means spending some extra time on a project. Just like in gaming scene rn, half baked games arent doing well and never have, same applies here. I understand the vast majority would like it sooner but I really would like to just be another voice that is saying "I don't mind waiting, please take care of yourself, mental health, etc" those are a priority above any video we may want (not to mention the fact that this could produce a better products because you guys would be longer breaks from the nonstop work). Anyways I saw the vote so I know this is a null point but we love u guys n some of us care and just want whats best for everyone.

Sash Railee

And then 'oh we decided to redo the whole shit, but it's gonna relaase soon!' (3 years later..)

I'm super excited to see what's to come with Mel, but I'm actually more excited to see slime kun x kitsune

Ebb223

Will be unsubscribing now. I wasn’t hoping for a half baked animation but this just feels like there isn’t any respect for the patients of the subscribers. I would not be surprised if your telling us it is almost finished knowing full well that it is far from.

I personally think its amazing you guys are taking the time to make this masterpiece. Though I think it would be a little less frustrating for many if every month we werent told it was soon finished. Kind of like unnecessary edging hahahhaha. Itll be done when its done, and Im cool w that and so are alot of other supporters

pls pls pls tell us when will it be released.

Someone

Why are so many people voting no? You want to stay there to starve waiting for 2 more weeks without any release? Since Vici is not working on the audio but he’s working on other projects i would say to just release some WIP to keep the patreon active, also melody x lawa might be as good as eula x lawa, think about it.

"Can't believe how many people want to sit in the dark and get nothing while waiting for the Fischl anim." "Nothing" isn't exactly the case, we still plan to keep posting little updates about Fischl's progress, and all patrons are welcome to join our daily discord streams to see progress. "...you said you were re-recording everything so it would be up to par. Now the re-recording isn't good enough and you're recording more." That's how this works yes. Whether it's video games, anime, hentai, that's the nature of this kind of work. A perfect recording the first or second time just isn't realistic, unless you don't care at all about quality. It's also usually done in smaller sessions of several scenes so the intensity or pacing may not always match between sessions. And even with extensive hours put into coaching the feel and idea for every scene, there is a lot of room for interpretation and the results don't always match the intent. But these are normal challenges for this kind of work. "You're also unhappy with minor sounds not mixing well so you're spending days finding sound bytes. These are things that should happen during production, not past final. Ideas are scope creep and you can't increase scope at the end of a project." I think there's a fundamental misunderstanding here. We found many sound bytes during production for WIPs, you heard them in the WIPs. But the rest of our time was animation/renders/etc to finish them in a timely manner, instead of slowing that down to guess what sounds we might want for scenes we hadn't even finalized. You can't see the future and predict the exact sounds you need for every part before the animation has even come together, it simply wouldn't make sense. "Scope creep" hasn't been a thing for probably a year in this project either. Once we finished core animation for the whole project, no new phases were added. Fixing bugs, smoothing out transition problems, reordering scenes for pacing, and finishing what we already planned and had partially done isn't scope creep. Adding proper audio to the project isn't scope creep. These are just standard parts of finishing an animation like we've always done. Just 6x larger this time. And like every animation before, we finish the animation then we do the sound. This way every scene is accounted for, their duration, and pacing. We cannot request the voice over until that is done. And to be frank, it's impossible to blindly prepare "perfect" sound effects and ambience. They have to be timed to the scene, review, and adjust or replace as needed after hearing them alongside the visuals. I don't know where you got the "that should happen during production, not past final" idea, but the animation isn't done or final until all of it is done, including audio. An animation is made up of many parts, and they can't all be done equally at the same time from day 1 up to the end. Some days it's core animation, sometimes its lights, sometimes it's polishing, sometimes audio, things happen in stages and at different times as part of the process. That's how this sort of work has to go, especially when we don't have dozens of people all dedicated to each separate type of work. Some things simply can't be done in parallel. We can try to give some more detailed insight into how audio design and timing works in the future perhaps to clear up misunderstandings. We tried to give more details than ever with Fischl for everything, and it somehow created more confusion. We'll try to give even greater detail in the future, and hopefully that will help with understanding and remove speculation. "...months after the initial expected release date" We try to always be careful not to give any exact date, because it simply isn't possible to see the future. Video game companies can do this because they have the option to cut content or release things unfinished and fix them later. That's not the kind of work we want to do. An "expected release date" means nothing, we either release or not, and until it's done we simply can't release. This is why we avoid such dates as best we can, but still share what we think based on the limited information we have at the time. Occasionally we made the mistake of answering people that wanted to know when to the best of our knowledge at the time. We'll try to avoid giving release details in the future. We understand the frustration and appreciate the feedback. Unfortunately our efforts to guess how long uncharted territory would take weren't as accurate as we hoped. All we can do now is complete what is ahead of us as planned and hope you enjoy the final animation! We have a ton of fun things planned ahead that we hope you will look forward to as well!

Kitsune

We've been planning on shorter works for well over a year now, we just couldn't abandon so much work to start over on a different idea. We've just been pushing every day to have it finished and hope you will enjoy! (˵^ ◡ ^˵)❤️

Kitsune

To clarify, we aren't "pushing the envelope for new stuff". We're just finishing the work we had planned. No new scenes, phases, poses, etc. Just finishing the audio and making it sound the way it should sound. Reviewing and polishing have always been part of our process, be it animation, lights, and of course audio. We hope you enjoy!❤️

Kitsune

This is why we stream virtually every day so people can see what's happening for themselves (T ^ T )ゞ

Kitsune

We understand and thank you for your support (っ^ ◡ ^c)❤️ We would have loved to see you in our daily streams to follow the progress and see how it all works and where our time goes. If you're still in the server we'd be happy for you to join us in our streams regardless!

Kitsune

It's unfortunately a problem of perception that's hard to reconcile. For us, after nearly 2 years and over 200 scenes with core animation, core lights, polished animation, polished lights, last fixes and finalizing, core voicing, core SFX, and just a bit of last fixes and finalizing to go for audio, it's just a tiny fraction of the whole project left. Compared to the enormous amount of work that has been finished, Fischl is "almost done" in our eyes and has been for some time. But compared to 2 years, a span of several weeks or a couple months is almost insignificant. Or we might call "soon". Where for someone on the outside, "soon" might be a couple days. We are deliberately vague about time frames and use things like "soon" because we simply can't predict the future. But unfortunately "soon" or "a few" or "almost" doesn't mean the same thing to everyone. And doesn't mean that we've seen all the hurdles that will appear. Thank you for your patience, and can't wait to share it with you! (~ ^ ◡^)~❤️

It's really just another type of goblin, orc, or ogre that you typically see in fantasy (。> ‿ ◕。) A lot of the appeal is in their size, and more primal nature. Regardless we hope you enjoy the fun things ahead!❤️

By "nothing" I meant art pieces. Text progress reports I consider different, but we can chalk that up to opinion. Regarding the entire audio talk. Yes, I think there has been a major miscommunication. When you say you're "almost done," I'm led to believe that includes audio. I was under the impression you'd been working on audio in tandem with the video and not that audio work would come after the video finished and that what we thought was near finished audio was still just rough draft work. It makes a lot more sense hearing that and knowing that you're basically doing the brunt of the audio work now and adapting it to the final video. I don't know your project, obviously, so I can't say if scope creep did or didn't exist but it's sure seemed like it. I'll take your word for it but when you say things like "I've got a new idea" it sure sounds like you're starting new stuff and adding instead of finishing. I got the idea of things happening during production because of the audio misunderstanding. Fischl is broken up into clear chunks. You could have been working on processing audio for each phase/scene at a time. I get everyone on the project has to play every role at times to get things done. I don't think you need to write a thesis statement on the breakdown of how things work. I don't expect that either. A lot of this just comes down to mismanaged expectations and a dedication to quality that wasn't present in past videos so it's catching you guys off guard time-wise. I'm also not expecting you to be a game company. They often push back releases because they can't hit deadlines anyway lol. I know you guys are pushing for quality. It's clear Vici wants this one to not have any obvious issues after being published. I'm not going to nitpick verbiage any more on the time stuff. We all realize it went awry. I'll just wait until the actual release from here on because I feel this kind of comment is just agitating you and you've got plenty on your plate already. Good luck.

Kitsune

The only thing we want to do to "quell" anything is to just release the animation, finished the way we envisioned so people can enjoy. I think for as long as everyone has waited it's the only decent thing we can do to repay the patience and support. We don't like the idea of releasing unfinished content for a number of reasons, especially if the "director's cut" would be virtually identical just actually polished properly. When it releases, that's it. People will see it, share it, it will get posted on every r34 reupload site you can think of, and that's the version most people will see, and where all of the hype and interest will be spent for most people. And unlike a video game we can't just push a patch that replaces everyone's copy or bookmarked version with the finished one. Even if we could, most would have already moved on to the next thing to be hyped for. I'm putting all of my strength into finishing the last bits of this enormous project and we hope you'll enjoy it when it's ready to share!❤️

mike

I'm okay with stuff taking time, but your definition of "soon" or "just a few" is egregious. The issue is that the perception is that your stretching subs out by trying to keep them on the hook with such a definition. I don't think that's what happening.... I hope that's not what's happening and if it ever came out that's what happening i dont know if just losing all your sub funds is the worst you will get. The skewed reality your poseing is just bad. Your going to keep losing money with that approach. Tell people straight up it takes however long it takes and we aren't giving you a time frame because we can't. I don't like imposing on art but you accepted the kings coin here and now you gotta keep the kings happy or that coin violently (by internet standards" goes away. That means being careful with your promises. I am looking forward to all your hard work but you may wanna look into a getting a soft PR person to look over your words before you post it so you're reputation doesn't poo itself.

Kitsune

It's not a problem, and if anything it helps us see where some things we take for granted as obvious may not be coming through in the things we actually communicate. We live and breathe these animations each and every day so the way we describe things to each other may not have the same effect with fans. Just things for us to learn and refine in how we communicate, and including more of those details that I believe are just missing in what we've said. A good example there is "phases". We started using that to describe the different groups of scenes but I don't think we really explained how or why it's even relevant. Maybe I'll try it here and see how it goes (。> ‿ ◕。) A "phase" as we called it is a collection of scenes that are related in content. Several story scenes before the action may be a "phase", the warmup scenes might be a "phase", and the action may be a "phase" as well. Fischl is actually so big we have a few "phases" for action instead of just one. With the way we work, and to be more efficient, we don't fully create "phase 1" from start to finish, then phase 2, then 3, and so on. Instead we create the "core animation" for the entire project (every phase) first. "Core animation" being the rough draft that's mostly done but still needs polishing, better facial expressions, etc. Then we add the "core" lighting for all phases. Then we're polishing animations for all phases. Then polishing lights for all phases. And a similar process for audio after. So "phases" aren't really progress markers for the whole project. When we finish core animation for phase 1, phase 1 isn't done. We still have to come back to phase 1 to add lights, polish, finalizing, and audio after that. This is where we've seen a lot of confusion too. We finish phase 4 core animation, then we go back to phase 1 lights. We didn't lose progress or go backwards, we're just working on the next layer of work for the project from start to finish each time. This is exactly why we couldn't work on audio for each phase as we went. We didn't have finished and polished animation for the whole project until the end, and that's where the final mouth movements and expressions are added that the voice actress needs. The exception being WIPs, where we instantly polished those to share with you. But after so much time, even most of those WIPs had to be polished a bit more to match our newer work at the end. That particular problem was new to Fischl (T ^ T )ゞ We'll try to explain more of this stuff a little better in the future. This kind of feedback helps us see where we need to focus on that. And again we appreciate the feedback, and just hope when it's all ready you will enjoy!❤️

Zeracheil

Yeah, I understand the production pipeline. You're not doing a vertical slice, so to speak, of each phase to completion. It's an iterative process. If you couldn't fit audio in there until the end, then so be it. My experience is definitely not with such a small team so that's probably a lot of where the skew happens. I still don't really feel that such in depth description is needed, not that I don't appreciate the effort to try and convey what's going on. I just think it's probably going to be overwhelming to a majority of users. Anyway, take care and god speed.

Gibbus

What do you mean more patient? People were patient for two years already… Just for them to announce another half year to make some little “ambient” changes or voice work that nobody will pay attention to in the end. It is already top notch and it probably was already top notch 2 months ago but perfectionism is a disease

Kitsune

This is why we stream our work every day for people to enjoy on discord (~ ^ ◡^)~ It helps remove any need for speculation so people can see what we're doing with their own eyes. We've been accused of "stalling" and "stretching" and having the animation finished for more than a year on places like Twitter. But in discord fans watch us literally create this stuff just about every day. Huge portions of our day are dedicated to it. I wouldn't ask you to have any trust in us at all, instead I invite you to join us and see for yourself in our streams. As a patron you should have discord access, and you can DM neko if the integration didn't get you in yet. Pretty much the only thing we don't stream is audio, just so we don't spoil all of the magic and so I can properly hear and focus without the usual music, talking, and pings that go on in the voice chat. We've been extremely open about our work, showing off virtually the entire process daily for more than 2 years now. But no matter how open we are or how much we try to explain or how much we show off each and every detail of what we're doing day after day, the perceptions never really change outside of our regulars in discord. We more or less know why, so the only thing we can really worry about is just finishing what we started regardless of the speculation or misrepresentations. The "promises" part is really tricky though. We specifically don't give exact dates, and explicitly say things like "if all goes well", "we hope", "probably", "about", "we'll try to", etc. When we say "if all goes well we might be ready in a few weeks" that somehow gets turned into "you promised it would be ready in 2 weeks". But sometimes it doesn't go well, and a "few" means we don't know for sure, or we would have said a specific number. We very deliberately try to avoid making any promises, and some things we say are misconstrued as promises in spite of that and held against us as if we did. There isn't a more "correct" way to say what we say, because no matter how carefully we PR phrase things it will be taken however people decide they want to take it. Some will take it in good faith, and a few don't. That's not really in our control but we make the effort all the same. But in the end, we just want to make animations and that's what we plan to keep doing. We'll try (try is not a promise) to even more strongly avoid language that indicates timeframes beyond the most vague in the future.

unholy

fair point, but we’ve waited this long. A little longer won’t hurt. Plus there’s so much other content out there that needs exploring. This one, 20 minute video isnt going to be something I and I would assume A lot of other people wouldn’t be watching everyday. We will enjoy it the first few times but then it’ll just be another great video in the sea of content.

Muscle Mount

I want to say that I’m a big fan, and I have deep respect for your work. You guys are amazing. But what @mike meant, I think, is that you shouldn’t use words like 'soon' without pointing out that 'soon' is relative to two years of work that’s already been done. Maybe the better approach would be something MagicNuts does on their Patreon and website, https://whatalegendgame.com, for their What A Legend game. They have a diagram showing how much is already done, and they have separate progress bars for various sections like Writing, Art, Coding… You may try following the same approach, adapting it to your workflow.

Kitsune

I've thought a bit about some visual progress bars but from what I could tell it brought us in a circle to the same problems but with a different coat of paint. Like the many animations before it, with Fischl we had no idea how many scenes or what duration the whole project was going to be. We had a couple short stories and just dove into it from scene 1. It worked well enough for the smaller animations before it. But it wasn't until a year later when core animation was done that we finally had any true frame of reference for the full scope. Before that point any percentage would have been pure guesswork (and still mostly is), and seeing the percentage go up quickly at the start, then slower and slower at the end gets us back to where we are now unfortunately. It's fun to look at, but without a crystal ball it will never be anything more than guesses. A less specific version of this kind of thing may work though, worth trying out perhaps. Instead of percentages or bars, just a list of the different stages of our workflow and a broad status. "Not started", "In Progress", and "Finished" for example for stages like Core Animation, Core Lighting, Final Animation, etc. This more broad status approach is closer to what we usually write in our posts (just with a lot less words). We just need to properly define these stages and statuses in a way that won't have to change later when we're knee deep in a project. And thanks! (っ^ ◡ ^c)❤️

Kitsune

P.S. I could almost swear you somehow read the rough draft of my comment (。> ‿ ◕。) I was close to ranting about the contextual nature of things like "soon" and how for motorway and building projects "coming soon" can be 2 or 3 years, vs your mother saying dinner will be ready "soon" is a few minutes to a couple hours. And even went on to explain how there's only a tiny slice of overall project left, so a few weeks or couple months is "soon" on a relative scale. But ultimately a big pedantic debate about what "soon" should or shouldn't mean, and how it should or shouldn't be used, just didn't seem meaningful in the grander scheme. So I deleted it, figuring it best left ignored as there isn't really a good outcome from debating it either way.

Ebb223

I have no doubt that you are working hard on it, its the fact that it has been almost finished for so long that bugs me. About 7 months ago I was told about 3 weeks and it has been almost done ever since. I have been subbed for a long time because I actually thought it would be released soon with each update. I would prefer to just be surprised with the release since almost just feels disingenuous. Being told almost again is what made me unsub, not the fact that it is taking a long time.

Brandon Gariss

I really do think your work is amazing but honestly I would rather just get the animation at this point. I get that you want it to be as perfect as possible but it the only things you are still working on at re-recording voice and sfx it really doesn’t seem worth it. Unfortunately for the most part especially with things like background music is the best you can really hope for is it sounds ok but isn’t distracting. If the music and sfx are good enough nobody notices them and for a porn animation they would have to be pretty bad for anyone to actually care while watching.

I guess what I'm saying is minimally $15k+ a month in subs gets you put under a microscope by certain kinds of people. I don't really think context fixes how those words are perceived. I get where your coming from but I just don't think it applies in a way that normal people would see or really that you should not have reasonable expectations that they would see that pov. The discord thing is nice to lurk into and see once in a while but normal people work 8-12 hours 4-6 days a week, if we aren't on a day off we aren't watching live streams that kinda close. I guess what I'm saying is probably still better to bluntly say that your not giving time expectations and not say things like soon. What a normal person sees is an update that gives some hopeful news on the middle of a rough workweek and then the light at the end of the tunnel turns into a sign with "jk we need to make the tunnel longer, we promise the end of the tunnel will be nicer ahead". Written in bright letters. I don't care how long the animation takes, I just realized that at some point I've stopped putting any stock into those messages and caught myself feeling bitter over it. I sat there and thought long and hard about unsubbing but I came to the conclusion that 5 bucks a month doesn't hurt me enough to be mad about something I'll ultimately enjoy later. It just kinda sucks I had to go through the completely avoidable emotional Rollercoaster of hope, disappointment, bitterness, and interspection to decide I still wanted to give yall my money is really what I'm complaining about. To be fair yall should be proud of your work in that I thought it was worth it to go through that Rollercoaster for what's ultimately porn lol.

I disagree, let them do their thing and you'll eventually do your thing sooner or later

Moooooon

So Kitsune has been replying to some comments, does that mean it's ready for release?

ViciNeko

We've stepped into a trap of promising the release date and not delivering a bit too many times, so no we'll share it when we are 300% certain about it. And ofc we'll do everything we can to wrap it all up faster (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ ❤️ And really cant wait to finally bring u this and further animations too! (っˆڡˆς)❤️

ViciNeko

We'll resume sharing proper animations and wips really soon (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ ❤️

ViciNeko

Sound work can be really tough if u do it for so long, so Kitsune will definitely get some proper rest after all this editing. As for me and Shuro - we are already in our "normal" working schedule with Melody x Lawa, so we'll just keep focusing on bringing it to you sooner (๑❛ڡ❛๑)👍 And thank you tooo for all your love, support and patience! (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ ❤️❤️❤️

ViciNeko

Really cant wait to finally share this one with you too! Its killing me to have the full animation just sitting on my pc, waiting for only sound to be completed, so we'll do everything we can to wrap it all up sooner! And yes! Im already in love with our upcoming Mel animation, so cant wait to bring it to you! (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ ❤️❤️❤️

ViciNeko

Thank you so much! (っˆڡˆς)❤️ Its true, that we want to stick to our vision and ideas (and from what i tell, we've been successful at that). But with our dreams and projects getting bigger, we also gotta learn how to approach em properly and efficiently. So with our upcoming projects we'll do our best to deliver u the best from both worlds - sooner release date and higher overall quality. We've already made some important steps to achieve these things, and i can tell that Melody x Lawa project is already going much faster then Fischl. So stay tuned, stay awesome and see ya soon with all these new releases! (っˆڡˆς)❤️

♪This is the project that never ends♪ ♪Yes, it goes on and on my friends!♪ ♪Vici had started making it not knowing what it was,♪ ♪and now they'll continue making it forever just because,♪ ♪This is the project that never ends, it goes... Seriously, this project is just a joke now, a sad running gag with a comedian that doesn't know when to stop. I stopped supporting at the start of the year, right around the two year mark, and was suckered back in with the "We're almost done guys, fr fr!" bit you had going. With this post it's pretty clear we've got a several more update posts before it's done, I would not be surprised in the slightest if this gets pushed back again and again until next year. I remember early last year, words and phrases were being tossed around like how you had finished "phase 5 core animations" and you were "closer than ever" to finishing the project. Now I see how empty those words were, they don't mean anything and had been said to keep us reaching for that carrot. It's a trick I'd like to use on my boss, "That report for Friday? Yeah, I just finished phase 10 of the core report and I'm closer than ever to getting it in your hands. Thanks for your patience (uwu)!" I hope this Melody girl is prepared to wait literal years for her thing to finish. I'll be dropping my support for good when/if this is done. I understand that you have thousands of rabid fans and apologists who will stick around anyway, you make more in a month than I do in a year and I know my money is a small drop in the bucket compared to all that, so me announcing I'm leaving is a meaningless gesture but you guys make plenty of those so I'll join in. With every update I see more empty meaningless words about how your going to change your workflow or take on smaller videos but, frankly, I don't trust you. So I'll be leaving after this project until I see some truth to your words. All this to say that I'm looking forward to 2025 when phase 7 of the core background audio is done, Rii has re-recorded every voice line for the ninth time and for 2026 when the Melody project has finished core initial animation polishing of phase 1.5 animations!❤️❤️

ViciNeko

Its just this project took way, way more time than we ever expected, so we really gotta wrap it all up already =P We'll do our best to deliver it asap. And thank you so much for your love and patience! (っˆڡˆς)❤️

@Kitsune, thanks! I hope you’ll come up with something that will satisfy everyone. I like your idea of the progress track, wish you the best of luck 😚

ViciNeko

At this point we've missed multiple release windows we've set for ourselves, so now we'll share the release date only when we 300% certain about it (probably just a few days before the actual release). In the meantime, we'll do our very best to be as transparent as we can about sound progress, so u can have a better idea where we are at now (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ ❤️

ViciNeko

Exactly! Wrapping us the sound is the "one-man-job" at this point, so me and Shuro are already working on Mel x Lawa, and ready to bring its materials to you! We have more than 30 scenes of core (rough) animation done, and we are just 10 core scenes short before finishing its first part (we want to split Mel animation in 2 parts for more consistent release schedule) Well, then we'll just have so much more to share with you after Fischl x Slime release! (っˆڡˆς)❤️

ViciNeko

Sharing the full thing without sound is kinda like sharing it half baked. It feels wrong to me. We'll do our best to wrap up the sound faster, and share the whole things as soon as its done.

ViciNeko

As i said in previous comment, sharing the full thing without sound feels wrong to me. Its like we share the project half-baked. We'll do our best to wrap up the sound faster, and share the whole things as soon as its fully done.

Oh, u are just the very best community one could've wish for! Thank you so much! We are already wrapping it all up, but still, this project took waaaay too long time to make. We really dont want to keep challenging ppl patience - its our fault that we've approached this monstrosity of the project the way we did, and kept saying "soon" while not having a clear understanding when it all will be finished. At the same time the moto haven't changed - we do the best we can, and we'll deliver when its fully ready, without cutting corners ฅ/ᐠ. ̫ .ᐟ\ And i really appreciate all the supportive words u say to us, especially after such a long project development. It was a big learning curve for us and we'll do our best to deliver our next projects way faster. And our animations will remain absolutely free, so we'll be more than glad to welcome u to our release on pixiv and twitter (っˆڡˆς)❤️ Thank you once again for your support and feedback, stay awesome and see ya! ❤️

May i get to your discord?Last time you sent me, I forgot to click the link,😭

Kitsune

Some of your frustration is definitely understandable. A lot of it is a communication problem that we didn't fully understand the extent of until very recently. We took for granted how much people know about some of these things, how our explanations would be interpreted, and even how long some parts of the process would take. This project is bigger and more complex than the entirety of our years of work before it combined. What we found with a lot of comments and feedback is that we focused a lot on talking about the things we were finishing as we made progress. It's a big project, many parts, which means many things to finish. But we weren't thinking about how to at the same time explain the entirety of the scope and account for how much was left with each update and only occasionally touched on it. And for some parts, it didn't seem like much work until we actually started doing those things. What we do has some similarities to filmmaking. You can see on wikipedia articles that cover the numerous steps from the start of filming to the end of video editing, it's fairly involved. There are many steps and a lot that must be finished before it's done. Ours is something like this for Fischl: -Story writing -Collecting reference materials -Preparing new 3D character model -Choosing and implementing assets (environment, clothing) -Rough scene and camera setup (on the fly) -Basic looped motions (on the fly) -Core animation -Core lighting -Full project test renders -Review and quick fixes -Polish animation -Polish lighting -Full project test renders -Review and finalize fixes -Finalize renders -Voice direction and recordings -Voice editing, timing, and retakes -Voice review, retakes, fixes -SFX/Ambience design and implementation -Full audio review, retakes, fixes -Render final cut, final checks -Publish There's also the whole "phases" thing and what that means, I explained it in another post so I'll skip over it here. We appreciate your support all this time, and we better understand now why this process is so difficult for people to understand. We'll work on how to better communicate these things so it's more clear in the future. We got used to communicating this stuff with each other, but didn't account for how much of it isn't easily understandable without hands on experience. As a patron you also have discord access as a perk. We would be more than happy to welcome you there to check out some of our streams and see the process!❤️ The schedule is always shifting so we cover every time zone pretty regularly. If you are interested we'll definitely have times that fit any schedule off an on. We made some changes to our process because of Fischl so future projects should be far shorter and much more manageable. But we're committed to finishing Fischl and decided after core animation that we didn't want to abandon half of the project just to release faster. There's no scaling back the scope of Fischl at this point, it just wouldn't make any sense or save much time, so all we can do is see it through to the end and hope you enjoy! (˵^ ◡ ^˵)❤️

ViciNeko

We do not - while Kitsune is finishing the sound, me and Shuro are already deep into our next project, and we've already prepared so much more for you! (っˆڡˆς)❤️

ViciNeko

We are not going crazy, trying to polish it all to an absolute unreachable perfection, but at the same time, there are some obvious spots that need some more attention. The issue is that when u work on these things for a long time, u developed "a blind eye" for some things, and its getting tough to review ur own work on the fly. After reviewing the whole thing with "fresh eyes and ears", we've caught and noted all these spots that need fixing and now we are working on them. We'll finish it up and release it to you soon after (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ ❤️

Just think of this video as an artwork (I mean it literally is a piece of art). An artist would want their artwork to be perfect because they obviously put a lot of love into the project. Just give them time. Its not that waiting isnt worth it. The longer you wait the better it will be :)

Test

I haven't really followed this project as long as others have, so I'm a bit of an outsider looking in. however you guys definitely need to be more honest with your expectations, goals, and communication since it's kind of hard to act in good faith when you've missed as many deadlines as you have. To be honest, i can't see how the audio editing for this project shouldn't be be done by the end this month if its as complete as you say it is. Yes 20+ minutes is a lot and you're a small team with one guy working on audio. But I've known audio editors that have been able to do that, if you're working as hard as you say , that should be more than enuff time to pull off something like that. Even if its only like 4-6 hours a day (which is a low ball) that's like 155 hours in a month, which should be more than enuff work hours to edit together a 20+ minute video even factoring some setbacks and retakes sense you assumedly have bulk of the audio done. like the production would need to be very inefficient or unlucky for it to take significantly longer. Like this video is obviously more complex than the average porn animation but it's not so much more that I would say the development time for it has been reasonable. that claim left the window once this video reached the 2 year dev mark Also you guys should probably stop saying the “Video is coming out soon”, unless you actually know you have something to show. Doing that only builds frustration when the project inevitably misses what most people would consider to be “soon”(a few days/ 2-3 weeks.) I say this because this seems to be a consistent issue you guys have and It only makes you seem overly optimistic at best and manipulative at worst. So I hope all goes well and the animation actually releases ”soon”. you guys clearly are talented and passionate but I would recommend trying to avoid projects of this scale in the future. I have full confidence that the animation will be excellent, but I'm not sure it will be worth the wait for many no matter how good it is. That aside keep up the good work. I have faith, but you definitely have to do more to build trust again, because actions speak louder than words.

Matthew Stasny

I understand that y'all are upset, but being rude to them is literally doing nothing to help. They know that people didn't want to wait a long time for it. Y'all have been giving them shit about it for a LONG time. You are not giving them any new information, you are just taking your frustration out on them. On top of they have to be nice back to you, because this is their livelihood(as I understand it), and it might lose them support to respond with anything other than positivity and grace to the negative comments. It's like watching old men yell at baristas because they're having a bad day and want someone to take it out on, you're just being a dick. Also they give their supporters quite a bit of agency, letting them into livestreams pretty much constantly showing the progress, letting them vote on things like this, hell, they have a place in their discord where anyone can suggest changes to animations, or ideas that they'd like to see in future ones, and from what I've seen, they seem to either adopt the ideas, or give them genuine consideration Every. Single. Time. I've supported a good amount of creators, and these people are Very Good to all of us. Please show them some courtesy.

Qantiec

Barely anyone is rude here, just disappointed that they didn't specify their definition of soon being almost a year...

Kitsune

We agree, actions do speak louder than words. That's why for over 2 years now we've streamed the vast majority of our work nearly every day. Raiden x Yae, Ganyu solo, Succubus Hu Tao, numerous wallpapers, Fischl x Slime, and a handful of other small projects. We showed you what we were doing, and the text posts just tried to summarized bits of that as best we could. "Inefficient". "Unlucky". There really isn't much room for all of the speculation, comparisons, assumptions, and amateur guesswork. We showed it to you already so you could see for yourself directly and follow our progress. If you chose not to that's totally fair, we don't expect everyone to watch the streams all the time. But the information is there and we stream it nearly every single day, even most major holidays like Christmas and obviously weekends too. There are of course some things that are more difficult to understand or follow than we realized, and recently we've been trying to factor that into some of our communication now that we're aware. And plenty of things took longer than expected. This is as big as virtually every work ever done before it, and more complex than all of them by far. Our estimates were based on previous experiences with older animation, and frankly they didn't remotely match up to a project of this complexity and scope. Many things that seemed easy, or that were easy, still took significant time to actually finish. And we showed that in our near daily streams for you. We've seen a lot of the issues and how better to handle them almost a year ago too, but we committed to finishing Fischl so some of that had to wait for Melody. We weren't going to abandon so much work at that point. I also notice you said "that claim left the window once this video reached the 2 year dev mark". We haven't reached the 2 year mark, that is still just over 2 months from now in the future. We shared the first WIP July 17 2022 if I recall. Would you say the claim has returned to the window after all? We've seen comments pulling "over 2 years" out of thin air for nearly a year now on Twitter. We only started 22 months ago and in that time also completed numerous wallpapers, the entirety of Succubus Hu Tao, Ganyu x Keqing Christmas, and added the effort for fully voiced WIPs for every post for the first time in our history. But again, we showed you all of that already. As for the "deadlines" I would actually really like to hear a bit of clarification there. There was one mistaken time frame last month of about 2 weeks from one of the posts, can you confirm for me the "many" others? We very explicitly only use language like "if all goes well", "hopefully in...", "we'll try to", "soon", etc. Because we know that we don't know for sure, and it's impossible to see the future and the things we'll find that we weren't expecting. We very deliberately avoid giving any deadlines and only estimate things with the limited information we have from past experiences. So can you clarify for me a few of these "deadlines" that you saw? I suspect things like "soon", "near the end" and "almost finished with X" were generously re-interpreted as "a few days/ 2-3 weeks" as you said in spite of our usually careful phrasing in that regard. When there is a deadline, and we know for sure, we may share it. Until then any and all estimates are very purposely only meant to be that. Estimates. Educated guesses, but guesses no less. But as mentioned we've already accounted for this and plan to more carefully avoid giving estimates in the future. We've been mentioning off and on for about a year that we plan to focus on much smaller projects for the future to make a lot of this easier and increase variety. As mentioned we couldn't simply abandon our work on Fischl halfway to do that, so starting with Melody we've already significantly reduced the scope and hope to continue that pattern for a while. We invite you to join us in our streams and check out some of the fun stuff we're working on. We're already working on changing some things for our future posts which we hope will help too. We have a lot of fun things planned ahead and hope you will enjoy!❤️

c1g

just redo all the audio atp 🤷‍♂️

c1g

honestly. its all just one big mess right now. id rather them scrap all the audio and just start over so theres a clear concise timeline. just think about it. Because all these redos sound like a headache for the person working on them. Starting over from zero, atleast to me, is something i would do if a project went off the rails and is all over the place. I might be sounding arrogant here especially because i dont know anything about the sound process of what works and what doesnt so i apologize, but If it was me.. id like to stay organized and ontop of things. compartmentalizing scenes and checking the boxes as i go. Slow and steady but a consistent pace so I know where my endpoint should roughly be

Kitsune

Just to add a bit of clarity, nothing is a "mess" or "off the rails" right now. Our work is a process, not a single step, and it requires many things to be done to complete it. Scrapping all of the audio would set us back 2 months or more and we would lose plenty of perfectly good work, definitely nowhere close to an option for us (T ^ T )ゞ You have to remember that this isn't math or science, it's a creative work and follows a creative process. Think of it like a writing a story. You know the general theme, the idea, but a lot of it is creative work you have to figure out on the fly. Your choice of words, the events that happen, it's not known until you get there. You just have the general idea and sense for how things should go that helps you navigate along the way. A writer when they put pen to paper doesn't know the exact day month and year that they will finish their book, that would be a bit absurd. And when that book reaches the end, you read it again, you let your editor read it, you make revisions and grammar fixes and clean up some wording and re-order some paragraphs or re-write a few parts to bring it all together. It's not a list of mathematically precise steps you follow and are guaranteed to finish in a set time. It's a creative work, completely different. We did this with the animation work, and with the lighting, and with the voice, and with the SFX. You don't create something perfectly the first time. You create it the best you can, then you review and make adjustments to fix any issues and bring it up to match your vision and standards. That's what we've always done, and always intend to do. The audio went through those first parts of the process, now it's onto polishing. Just like the rest of this video. Nothing different or unusual, this is how creative processes normally go. Hope it helps!

Test

Im sorry if i came across as rude/an asshole. i was mostly just concerned as a newer patron, sense when i was skiming previous Patron updates this seemed to be a repeated concern. i while i think some of the frustration people have is warranted, it defiantly is overblown and i apologies if i contributed to that. I do still sand by that you guys should probably stop saying "soon" or "near the end" unless you know you have something to show because that really seems to be the main thing that is keeping people agitated. with that said take it easy, and keep up the good work.

c1g

Appreciate the detailed response. I do understand and the picture is a lot clearer now, thank you!

AGEn

can you guys tell me how to join discord?

ViciNeko

Thank you so much for your kind words! Fischl x Slime project blew all our schedules away, and people are understandingly upset that it takes too long to finish - we cant blame em for it. I would really love to stop saying "soon" and just set some proper date "in stone", but we've stepped into this trap multiple times already, so we really dont wanna lie to you about release time frame, while we are not 200% sure about it. We are doing our absolute best to release it as soon as we can, and to make it in a best shape we can. It will be ready when its ready, and we'll keep providing all the info we got on it during its creation. And i know, that we are repeating ourselves there, but Fischl x Slime project is really at its end. So much so, that we have literally everything done, but sound. So while Kitsune is wrapping it all up, me and Shuro have already established a huge chunk of our next Melody x Lawa animation, and already sent the animated preview to her for some dialogue (lip sync) voicing. So the work never stops, and we really cant wait to bring u so much more! Thank you once again, stay super awesome and see ya soon with new wips and releases! (っˆڡˆς)❤️

Both the initial points by Test and Kitsunes response were valid after checking the facts for a hot second. BUT - from a marketing perspective - this response has unfortunately failed to capitalize on one of the most well thought out constructive critism comments I've ever seen below anything. Test's post was an absolute layup to just bond with the community as it was written in a completely non-aggressive style. You chose to disect the comment like an accusation and went all out on defending, quoting, debunking and proving. I know it is easier to go into this objetively as a bystander. You guys where directely adressed and therefore emotions come into play. Genuine advice as a take away from this: If the comment is not slandering (which it wasn't at all) and this long, keep the response light. The reply should never ever be longer than the initial comment.

Kitsune

Thanks for the feedback! To add some clarity, emotions aren't really relevant to the responses for these comments. Such things don't translate well in text without things like blatant insults, all caps, etc. They are generally reader interpretation and based on personal biases. And yes the comment was a layup to bond with the community. Or rather, the part of it that is motivated by negative feelings. "Call-outs" like this are always ripe for support from those with strong negative investment in a situation. We see the very same on twitter as well. Not to be dismissive, it's just that it's human nature to respond more strongly to negativity like that. As for the length, dissection, etc, I can't agree with your assertion there unfortunately. The point is to dispel a myriad of misinformation. It's easy to say something factually wrong in a few words. And it can take paragraphs (or screenshots, which I can't attach here) to disprove it. I think it's important that we deal with spreading false narratives like this, and unfortunately that means a lot of words sometimes. And holding some accountability for what people say. We are held accountable by everyone here for our words, and that goes both ways. We hope, overly optimistically, that such misinformation won't be a continuing problem in the future. Anyways we hope you enjoy the animations and appreciate your message! (˵^ ◡ ^˵)❤️

Aidan Scott

Thanks for that respond Kitsune. As a professional in blender and all things adobe, I understand those* difficulties, it’s just to hard to put into words. For an example, I had been working on a blender project without an important deadline in 2018, but my company expected my tea, to take about one month, and it took 3 years. That’s how creative stuff works, and no matter what you do you will eventually hit a roadblock.

Hi! Can you send Discord Link?

At this rate we won’t be seeing it until next year.

Why are people so upset with the delay? It just shows that you're putting a lot of effort imo. You can always find something else in the mean time if you're unhappy. I'm hyped for the release though, when it does arrive!

Where_Am_I

Hi all, another week gone by. I even more think it will be good to release the fully complete video without sound to the members. Maybe take a poll to see how many agree with this?

Sekai

Of course 100% of ppl will agree. The hype has been there for god knows how long. We can't wait any longer. But it's all up to Vicitsune in the end. They are in it for perfection. Honestly all of us have a very very VERY low bar to satisfy at this point. We just want it released. The wait has been extremely horrendous and the mental game was worst because of their choice of words before, edging us time after time again. I can see they are very much aware of this now and will be more careful but yeah, the damage has been done. Lots of ppl are losing trust to keep up with this again. I just hope they know how we feel about all of this. That being said, I don't mean any harm to Vicitsune for their hard work. I wish them the best but I do hope things improve for the future releases. All of that out of the way, pls update us if you'll be releasing it any minute now. Pls.

Rhuidean

I just reviewed Hu Tao vs. Slime the other day. Still a masterpiece. I signed up for this video September 2022. Unless any of the complaints are accompanied by works of the same quality as Vici, I'm just gonna be happy to wait. If you make stuff this good, I'll support you too.

Ive been following for probably a year now? And i love the content and will continue to support. But Unfortunately for the artist. Its not within their preview to disagree with assertions and assumptions. Perception is reality. You are exactly beholden to supporters and their opinions. Wrong or not. Slapping proof on the table doesn’t sway the conversation or narrative in either direction. They are hollow words. It does not go both ways. You take money, consumer receives product. Anything in between literally doesn’t matter. Again, im not mad or whatever have you. But Test is not wrong when he says that more care needs to be had with communication. Just because you feel like you provide enough? Or have proof? Means nothing to those who dont agree or see it. I wish you all the best, stay safe!

或许你误解了我的意思 这是一个来自游戏dark souls中的设定,每代国王需要维持延续世界之火,但当代国王却消失了,世界之火无人延续,便越来越弱。 我的意思是当前最有实力的作者却拿不出标杆作品

Kitsune

There is no "stunt", as we very plainly demonstrated as we streamed day after day the work we were doing. We invite you to join us there, it's much more fulfilling than repeating things you read in comments (。> ‿ ◕。) But we will post the work when it is finished and ready to be enjoyed. We don't wish to go the way of Ubisoft and churn out incomplete, unsatisfying, and half baked works. It severely reduces the enjoyment the vast majority of people will get from the animation and dooms us to keep working on something many won't care to revisit again instead of making progress on other projects. It ruins the joy of the first watch and we don't wish to do that for no reason so far in just for an arbitrary deadline (T ^ T )ゞ Work continues and we hope you will enjoy it when it's finished!❤️

Kitsune

Our work never stopped, we streamed it for you nearly every day starting with Raiden x Yae over two years ago so you could see what we're working on (。> ‿ ◕。) Fischl is not quite ready to release but we have substantial work to show for it that was in our streams. There's just audio to finish now as we mentioned. But for the future as we said we will be making much shorter animations. We committed to finishing what we started instead of abandoning Fischl halfway so it took some time to get here. Once Fischl is ready we'll be going back to the shorter durations like before and hope you will enjoy!❤️

Kitsune

We appreciate the support and the feedback! We want to create the best work we can, and we dedicate day after day nearly every day of the year to this work. If people deliberately choose not to tune in and see that work for themselves, so be it. They can maliciously call us "lazy" or "scammers" but we make our work for those who cherish the quality and vision we dedicate ourselves to. We don't wish to sacrifice quality to appease a malicious few at the expense of dedicated and hopeful fans. As we already stated and gave some lengthy insights into, more care will be given with communication in the future. As you said, it won't matter for those who will choose not to see it so it won't change much for some people. They will still have their own reality. But for the dedicated fans who do follow our progress and our efforts I think it will go a long way towards and even better experience for them. As for money, products, etc, we've been providing products this entire time and are continuing on that path to delivery like always. WIPs, wallpapers, other short animations, near daily live streams, we've already been fulfilling that responsibility. And as a reminder, support is optional and our animations are released to the world for free. The money we receive here was always an optional way to show support to help us continue making anything and everything we are inspired to create, never for a specific animation. The animations are always free. But for patrons we dedicate more time to making these big updates and stream our work for you to watch and follow along almost daily. Regardless of perceptions and spurious claims our work never stops and we're still pushing towards completion. That's what we'll continue to do too until finally the animation is done and we share it with all of you. More than anything we simply want to make the best work we can, and hope you will enjoy it when it's ready!❤️

xiaotan luo

Kitsune

It's no problem, you are still completely welcome to join us in the discord too! (˵^ ◡ ^˵) We're grateful for the support you've given us and don't want to cause financial difficulties for anyone. We just want you to enjoy the animations and we look forward to sharing a lot more fun stuff with you!❤️ We'll do our best to release significantly faster after Fischl is done too so there should be a lot to look forward to!

Matthew Stasny

Definitely not 100%. I know for a fact that if I saw the mostly completed version without sound(or with incomplete sound work) it would be disappointing to some extent. And odds are that I wouldn’t come back and check out the release of the full version, or if I did, it would be another disappointing experience, as so would have already known what the whole thing looked like before I saw the completed version. I truly believe that most people would have the same experience. Also, reading through these comments, the creators have given multiple really good reasons for why it would be harmful to release it early. Can you imagine if a movie studio released an early version of a film with everything done but the special effects and CG a month early because their fans kept asking them to, saying they couldn’t wait anymore? It wouldn’t work out very well.

Where_Am_I

In my case, I just want something. I can do the audio myself. Sample the files already from this group, divide into tracks, remove parts that don't fit, normalize, match timing, add sfx lifted from their files... about 3 days work to have something that would satisfy me. Then I can walk away.

Moooooon

Any updates for FxS perhaps?

Zonetan256

I've been a supporter for about a year and will still be one in the future, I have a lot of patience, I want to see a fully finished Fischl video in all its glory, that being said, at least give us a progress report on the audio, apparently since it's the thing that is taking up a lot of time, weather or not it's quarter or half way complete, it will allow us to estimate for ourselves if we have a short wait or a long one still, because it's the waiting and not knowing seems to be causing the backlash, I think it's only fair for us supporters.

Test

i do think a update or progress report on the audio is a bit warranted, sense its been almost two weeks sense we've gotten anything concrete on that front. i even checked the discord so see if their was anything i missed but i couldn't find anything on that front. i don't need a hard deadline but it would be nices to know if there has been any additional setbacks or if things are progressing smoothly. i don't want to pressure you guys into saying "its coming soon" when you don't have a ballpark when it will be finished so i would just ask to give a current estimate level of completeness so at the very least, we could set our own expectations on that rather than trying to figure out how soon is soon. i will say from poping into some of the the daily streams, it seems like the melody animation is coming together nicely. but i don't expect that coming out anytime soon. my best guess would be 6-8 months at the soonest but i also don't know how long the final animation is supposed to be, so im guessing ill probably take longer/or shorter depending on the scale. also just a idea, if the project is actually almost done, you could throw together a quick teaser trailer, to show the project dose indeed exist and is nearing completion. but ideally you should only do this if you have a solid ballpark of when the final will be done so just ignore this if you think it would be a distraction. and keep focusing on the main project for now . that aside keep of the grind, and good work.

Kitsune

Posting a quick comment here instead of in multiple replies /ᐠ. ̫ .ᐟ\ We've planning to post another update as soon as I finish one of our bigger audio milestones mentioned last time. We estimated that it might ready a couple days ago but I'm getting it wrapped up still before we write the update post. We'll have more meaningful insights this way (。> ‿ ◕。) We've seen a few comments about teaser trailers or similar but between 70+ WIP posts and over a year of daily streams I'm not sure it's worth sacrificing a few days to put something like that together. We'll continue with smaller update posts like these until release though. Estimating things like 25%, 50%, etc is difficult to do with much accuracy, especially if your hope is to reverse engineer a release date out of it. Like many endeavors the last 10% is the hardest and that's the part we're grinding through. There's no % we could ever dream up with that will give you an accurate estimate for a release date, I'm just working every day to have it done ASAP. As for Melody, while we aren't posting WIPs there yet we can at the very least say it's dramatically smaller than Fischl and most likely will release in two halves. Like a "part 1" and a "complete" edition depending on how things come together. It's already shaping up nicely and benefiting greatly from the changes we've made since Fischl so we look forward to something a bit smoother and more manageable we hope, and also much smaller in scale. See you soon with a proper update!❤️

nadesammich

Starting to just lose hope on this project. 2+months for audio issues that just seem to never end. Every update is, "we're almost done, just a few more steps guys!", and then the next thing we hear there's another delay due to reshoots and you guys not liking the audio ect ect ect. I get its a big project, but it's just feeling like it's never going to be completed at this point. Hope you guys can eventually finish it up, but I'm about tapped out on wanting to support it. Best of luck.

Kitsune

Really this all boils down to communication issues. It's not 2+ months of "audio issues" and "delays" and so on. It's 2+ months of doing the work properly, the way it's supposed to be done. Animation, lighting, audio, it's all a process. It always has been and always will be for not just for us but Pixar, youtube animators, anime studios, even video game developers, etc. I know it's difficult to understand, but this is normal work that is expected and just part of the process. We plan, acquire, adjust, review, and refine. It's not magic, and it doesn't come out perfectly the instant you put an audio clip into the timeline. Voice acting is an art and a skill and even the pros don't do it perfectly the first time every time. SFX are similar. Just like Hollywood has retakes for various scenes even when working with world-class highly trained actors. It's never perfect the first time you do something. Not for us, not for Pixar, that's just not how any of this works on a fundamental level. We apologize for not better explaining up front the various intricacies of creating animations, but invite you to join us in our nearly daily streams to better understand these things. We'll continuing doing our best to finish the work ahead to share with you as soon as we can!❤️

Niiskar

Hey, I think it's great that you do these streams. But still I don't think it's too much to ask from us that you maybe take 5 minutes every week to make a quick text here about progress. Not everyone has the time to check multiple times a day for the streams, since you don't have a stream schedule, or plainly doesn't use Discord. Just as long as there is no other content to post here.

Kitsune

Yep and as I mentioned we've been planning to make an update just pending a specific bit of progress. But we don't update on arbitrary intervals like weekly because that would simply result in say a few days ago posting "yes we're doing the thing we said we were going to do last week". Rather than a mix of unhelpful updates followed by delaying big updates to align with an arbitrary interval, we try to base our updates around actual progress. This way updates will have something meaningful to take away besides "working on it". We'll see you soon with a proper update!❤️

mike

I would also hazard that a year and a half in any project not on a Hollywood scale is ridiculous. Yes, a big part is the comms, but you guys bit off more than you could chew and somehow still make more in a year than a good chunk of Americans. I don't think that is fair personally

nadesammich

I agree it's communication issues if every update, comments or official post, is stating the audio needs reshooting, remixing whatever, and it turns out it's just you guys "doing the work properly". That definitely clears things up. The streams, while informative for those who understand what they are looking at, are not the type of information I think alot of us are looking for. People are simply curious about why things are getting pushed back, re-recorded, why these decisions are being made to change and delay at the very last stretch (not the actual work process as we see in the streams, that alone is obvious, and doesn't provide us with the insight we ask for as previously stated). On top of that, the streams themselves are available to the general public. Here on Patreon, where we have to support a tier just to be able to participate in these updated threads, we are supporting a project in an environment that would hopefully provide feedback. It all just makes it seem like you guys cannot make up your mind and/or are stumbling over this obstacle, and after having such a long streak of consistent, reliable updates on the project and it's steps, this is extremely worrying for those of us that have been supporting for the majority of it's creation.

mike

I think you get till the end of this month, then I'm pulling out for good. Look at people like derpixon, they legit turn off subs when they don't produce. Put your livelihood on the line and maybe I'll have enough faith in your ability to produce a product in a timely manner instead of bleeding these horny masses. I'm at the point where I'm calling bullshit on your integrity. And streaming your efforts doesn't fix it, it highlights inability.

Kitsune

@mike thanks for the feedback! Those are interesting perspectives, I'd actually like to hear what you base these opinions on. What makes a year and a half "ridiculous" for anyone "not on a Hollywood scale"? Many indie game developers need a few years to make a single game, should we shut down that scene and force them to only make quick and simple games? Should animators that aren't on a "hollywood scale" stick to short loops? What length of time would you deem "appropriate" to create an animation, and how lengthy should animations made in that time be according to you? Phrases like "bit off more than we could chew" imply that we failed. We didn't make an animation and instead gave up because it was just too hard. But it's the exact opposite, we showed you top to bottom literally thousands of hours of our work and even prepared WIPs to show the progress. It's not more than we could chew. We chewed it. It just took a while because of the size. As for how much we make, what do you believe is the fair dollar amount an artist should make? And remember, the subscription here is entirely optional. We have millions of fans around the world and instead of charging them to see our animations, we release them all for free. Always have, and maybe we always will. Can you clarify what dollar amount you think we were supposed to make instead to align with your preference?

Kitsune

@nadesammich just to clarify, no our streams are not and never were available to the general public. They are only available to subscribers on Patreon. If you didn't get added automatically you can DM us for an invite link at any time. To also clarify, outside of the erroneous 2 week estimate on March 14th things aren't "pushed back" it's just a continuous effort to reach the end. It's not a "change" or a "delay" it's part of refining and making a quality product. You don't throw something together then put it out there as is, you refine and polish. Same when writing a book, filming a movie, making an animation, or writing a song. It's not a matter of "making up our minds", it's creating, reviewing, and refining as it has always been for every work we've done. We'll try to give some better insights on this once Fischl is finally done, as the fundamental misunderstandings are hard for us to fully grasp and dispel all at once in a reply like this. As for the reliable updates, we agree there and it's a bit tricky with sound. It's not like the visual stuff, where we literally showed it on screen as it came into existence. With audio trying to screenshot the timeline is a mess that's hard to follow and means little to most people. And we can't exactly release the full audio as-is weekly expecting you to listen to the 27+ minute track dozens of times picking out the differences yourself until finally it's perfect. There isn't a good way to show progress with audio, but we showed you everything before that so you could be aware of how the process of planning, implementing, reviewing, and refining more or less works on a fundamental level. Hope it helps, and again we hope to give even more insight in the future on some of these things.

Kitsune

As I mentioned in the other reply, can you elaborate a bit on that? How has showing you thousands of hours of painstaking work shown "inability"? What inability did you see during those streams? What is in your opinion a "timely manner" for a project like this for 2 people? From what I can see you are clearly upset, and that has pushed you lashing out and making wild statements with nothing at all to support them. We understand the wait is difficult, and if you have anything constructive to say we would be happy to take it into account. Otherwise our work continues as always, day after day, until the work is done. Whether or not you are subscribed you will get the entire animation like everyone else, because we want everyone to be able to enjoy our works. And we hope you do too once it's ready.

mike

So placing a dollar value on what is generally considered superior work in an animation sense and saying you have surpassed it isn't clear enough. Doing your best didn't mean you did good. And you won't address the fact that you accept that money and that there are ways to alleviate that because you "feel" like your best is worth it. Your team size is your problem, not mine. None of the things you put forth balance out the value you accepted. Nothing I can do about that, but I put my coin in the slot so imma put my two sense in as well.

Kitsune

I would love to accept your two cents, but nothing has been said so there's nothing we can do with this. You say we showed we were incapable in our streams. What was it we showed in those streams that you feel expresses our inability? You say we didn't do good in spite of doing our best, so what is it that we didn't do good in terms of the animation? I'll give you some examples to make it easier: - Communication? Sure, we agree. We made the mistake of giving more insights than ever before, which confused more people than ever before, and backfired. We have plans to fix that for the future. - Maybe it's animation quality you're unhappy with? Great we'd love to hear what parts didn't meet your standards and what you'd like to see improved - Lighting? Maybe you see some mistakes or lighting balance you wish were done differently, we can address that - The time it took? We've been saying for a year we're making future works shorter. Abandoning Fischl to start over a year into it for something else was never an option so we're just seeing it through - The pace of our work? Our speed has been pretty consistent for a few years now across multiple animations in spite of rising complexity And no of course I didn't feel any need to address your attempts to retaliate against us financially with ignorant money comments. Our subscriptions are completely optional and were a way of showing support, not buying animations. You never were forced to pay it, and can leave and return at any time just to pick up finished animations without watermarks. We have even paused subs a handful of times over the years, but what does that do to make you any less upset? Nothing, so it's not really meaningful to talk financials with you. You have formed your opinion already based on your personal expectations not on the realities of this kind of work. You say "none of the things you put forth balance out the value you accepted", yet can't even qualify that. In your personal opinion sure, maybe 4 animations per year at 30 mins long each by 2 people is reasonable. But that's your opinion, not reality, and not founded on any knowledge of what this work is like. To put it into perspective, it takes Pixar 600+ people 3-4 years to make a 90 minute film. But surely you have the good sense to know it doesn't mean they are "slow", "incapable", "don't deserve that much money", etc. We aren't 300x better than Pixar, it's just silly to compare animations like that. Or to your Derpixon comparison, "Mystery Bang" is 7 mins long and released 7 months after "Eri-Chan's Home Workout!". That's a pace of 1 minute per month if they started right after vs our pace of around 1.5 mins per month. Is that because we are 50% better than Derpixon? No not remotely, they are completely different works and those kinds of comparisons are only ignorance. What would actually be valuable in expressing your dissatisfaction is something constructive and specific with some substance we can actually talk about. "You took too long, you deserve a smaller amount of money!" is nowhere close to a constructive or meaningful conversation. You haven't said anything with specificity or any level of detail about what you are dissatisfied with or what you think it should be instead. Just "you don't produce", "you did bad", or "you are incapable". Pointed remarks, but ultimately lack any sort of meaning we can do anything with. If you want to see improvement, let's actually talk about the improvement you want to see. If this is just blowing off steam, great, then my only hope is you have a better rest of your day.

mike

Sigh* ive never even once said your animation quality was bad. I said your best isn't good enough, which I guess is too broad because you excel in a lot of areas and you proud of it. However you are basically saying "haha wee are with patreon so you aren't paying for this animation you paying to support us" is ignorant af. Your gaslighting people into staying knowingly or not here. Your basically saying through that logic you have no obligation to even release it because we are supporting you not buying animations by the standard you just proclaimed. I can assure you, there would be some pretty messed up repercussions if you seriously took that stance to the fruition of that point, not that I'm saying you would, i really don't think thats what you mean. Basically your taking advantage of people who do use patreon to pay for animation, because how the fuck else do we do so. If we don't do it here then it's free, which doesn't really work for some because we like paying for things that we like and I have a feeling it wouldn't work for you if all your subs went away, honestly it's too much money to not be an integral part of your life now. I'm saying that you took an awful lot of people mint for a good amount of time and now you don't even have the good grace to actually be apologetic for taking so much and giving so little, in fact your gaslighting people until thinking it's okay. I can sit there and polish a rock for 2 years but that doesn't make it a million dollar rock, it makes it a shiny rock, worth what a shiny rock is worth. Honestly it is less about what I've paid cause honestly a release right now would see me thinking we were square and even apologizing for being rude, it's the fact that I cannot in any way say that I'm confident it won't go on for another half year cause "our animation got corrupted" or some other unforseen circumstances. And the fact of the matter is I don't know that your confident of that either, so I'm sitting here pissed off at this trying to communicate being pissed off, all the while feeling bad about it but also not willing to let it go. Basically I'm pissed that you have the audacity to push back the way you are, what is happening isn't okay. If you let a bunch of people pay for somthing and they don't get it you don't get to come back on them like they aren't paying you for a thing. So stop making excuses and just tell update ac few more times and release the thing, stop shooting yourself in the foot defending a crap scenario

mike

And for the record who ever said I was trying to be productive. I'm venting on the internet, in a place that I literally paid to be allowed an opinion. I don't think you will stop coping an attitude at the people who are paying you so I'm gonna cop it back. It's really gotten bad since you started firing back on your patreons cause vicineko stopped posting. At the very least the responses they gave were placating enough to not piss off the people paying you and even garner singe sympathies over what is probably a crappy situation. I actually tried to defend them cause I felt like people were beating them down too much for this situation, but you seem like you just think we owe you our adoration and money, and God forbid we be displeased with the way you handled things. I may not be paying for the animation as you seem to want to put it but I am paying for a spot in this forum so unless you wanna resort to tyranny in going to cop an attitude at you any time you gaslight someone into thinking this situation is okay

Kitsune

I'm sorry but this completely mischaracterized the entire discussion and what has actually happened. I know that you're upset, but twisting reality to make it sound as negative as possible without supporting what you're saying doesn't create meaningful feedback we can do anything with. It's just blowing off steam and hoping to punish us as much as you can in the process. And that's fine, you are free to vent but in the process there is plenty of misunderstanding I feel is important to dispel. If not for you alone, for the rest of the community reading. I don't think it's tyranny to point out the things that are inaccurate and better explain everything. To your comments, we aren't "polishing a rock for 2 years", we've worked on an animation for 20 months (plus 2 months for another entire animation in the middle). We aren't repeatedly re-polishing something that was already polished and done a year ago like your rock example. We are finishing it. This is the process, and how long it takes. We aren't pulling new things to do out of thin air and polishing things for no reason. Believe me, we want this animation released far more than any other human on this planet. If this were about money we could have pulled in so many more people by cutting corners and pushing out Fischl early without properly polishing it to squeeze in a couple more animations. It has been detrimental to us financially and in follower count to continue this animation so long. But it's not about the money like you've been obsessing over. It's about making a good product for people to enjoy and something we can proudly put our names on. We aren't Ubisoft, and I pray we never become that. We aren't trying to be the McDonalds of animators either. We've done an unreasonably large amount of work for just two people, thousands of hours of labor with virtually no weekends and few holidays. It's not just a 9-5, it's a huge part of our day nearly every day of the year including Christmas which we also streamed during. And it isn't "gaslighting", we literally showed you the process from top to bottom. You call it "this situation" yet you could have watched it with your own eyes. I think we've probably been more open about our work than any other animator I'm aware of, literally showing off our hours of labor every day. We have something to show for it, people saw the work that went into it. You make these claims and don't support them, then I clarify it for you and it's backed up with, no exaggeration, probably more than 5000 hours of streams and more than 70 WIP posts. You don't have to imagine what happened or why it takes so long, we literally showed that to you. We will be releasing the animation, the one we've shared thousands of hours of labor on with you. You are getting it, and arguably in a pretty reasonable time frame. It may not seem like it, and that's our fault for not learning how to better teach you how long animation takes. But we put everything out on display for you to see. I know that you're upset at the pushback, because the things you're saying aren't substantiated and it's frustrating to have it all picked apart so easily on top of the negative feelings that have already built up. But I want you to better understand what we're doing, what goes into this, and where we're coming from. Repeating things others have come up with in comments isn't making you happier or giving us any constructive feedback to work with. Only recycling negativity and making you feel worse about the whole thing which is unfortunate. I want you to see the monumental amount of effort and care we've put into these works, for you. So you can enjoy them to the fullest. We're simply doing what is necessary. For you, even to our own detriment. This is exactly how long it should take, and I wish it wasn't the case. And that's why future works will be shorter. And we care about your words and what you have to say. I wouldn't read every last word and pick apart your every point and go line by line helping to clarify everything for you if we didn't. I could just say "sorry, we'll do better next time!" and placate like you mentioned and call it a day without putting any thought into your words. But we do care about your words and now you know I read all of them and pay attention. And instead of placating, I'll talk to you like an adult and discuss the many things you've had to say. We don't want to see you unhappy, closing yourself into an echo chamber of negativity from unrealistic expectations. I want to help you better understand what is and isn't reasonable, figure out what would really improve things in the future, and assure you that we are putting in immense effort, for you. And at the very end of it, all we want is for you to enjoy the animation and look forward to the next one. I hope that helps show you a little more of our perspective here. We appreciate your support and your generosity, enough so that I'm willing to put in the effort and time to further explain and break everything down to help find common ground and understanding, figure out how to make things better, and turn this into a meaningful conversation.

mike

gaslight someone means to manipulate another person into doubting their own perceptions, experiences or understanding of events. Your literally doing that, your saying my viewpoints are invalid and not actually invalidating them. Except im not the only person your doing it to. The tyranny I was speaking of was not something you've done or are doing or that i think you would do, i was alluding to trying to enforce a ban on an account, one that you haven't done to your credit. Look I don't care about why it's taking a long time, I care about your attitude towards people who have legit concerns that are giving you crap because you deserve it to some extent. Take your medicine and do better in the future. Your just digging a hole right now

Kitsune

I really don't follow with the gaslighting thing. I explained exactly why it was unreasonable or incorrect, pointing to the live streamed video proof, and even numerous WIP posts you can download and watch right here on Patreon. Even a screenshot of our entire audio project. They exist. I even broke down many of your points with specific numbers you can easily cross check for yourself. It's about as gaslighting as recording 5000 hours of footage and taking 70 photographs of the globe earth and sending it to a flat earther. It's not gaslighting, it's educating. Being upset is totally valid and we understand. If you feel it's taking too long let us hear that. You don't have to make things up to tell us you're upset and why. You don't have to make things up in creative attempts to try to destroy our reputation. You can easily express your concerns and the problems directly and honestly. That's something I can't pick apart. There were issues, and we've admitted and discussed them at length in other comments. So let's talk about that, and find some mutual understanding.

mike

No, your still doing it so I wont stop. You throw a bunch of subjective things at my subjective things and say yours are more and don't understand why i dint agree. I'm not making things up, you aggressively put down people who are complaining and it's not okay. Do I need to pick through the last 2 or the parts and quote you? Stop, you suck at PR, your digging a hole even by answering me at this point

mike

My problem is mostly with your response to valid criticism or rather your inability to take it without a backwards remark. You. Messed. Up. Take your medicine and everyone can move on, you might even keep the mass of subs, keeping up showing this kinda stuff will make people not want your stuff even if it's good

Kaiserriech135

Can everyone just stop being so damn negative, look, I get it, you want the animation to be released and it’s a pain to wait, but what they are working on is very time consuming. They are making art and art takes time, think of it like someone was building a house, would you like it done, yes, would you like it rushed and half assed, no. And not only that, they are doing their hardest to get it done properly while dealing with all the complaints. Just cut them some slack and if you don’t want to pay don’t.

Kitsune

Sorry about that (T ^ T )ゞ We're moving as quickly as we can to release so hopefully you won't have to see much more negativity going forward. We really appreciate your kindness and patience and look forward to sharing the fun things ahead! (っ^ ◡ ^c)❤️

Solace

I appreciate the amicable response, and do not want to continue along this train of headache I'm sure these types of conversations can cause. So ill keep this one positive ❤️ I do appreciate the care and perfection this team strives for. This kind of passion is few and far between anymore. It is largely why I choose to support monthly. Almost purely based on how you all carry yourselves :) Have a blessed day!

I’ve read about as much as I needed to. They’ve confirmed that the animation will get released for free when it’s ready, so supporting through Patreon truly is optional. If you don’t want to support, then simply don’t. You’ll still get it when it’s ready. As for the team, it’s a learning process. The biggest reason the backlash is strong is because of the unfortunate mistake of giving everyone hope that it would be done based off the titles of the updates. Writing “Final Push” and other misleading titles tends to cause outrage when that “final push” is still months in the future, at minimum. But you’ve already addressed the issue and apologized, and hopefully learned that you should never underestimate the process, regardless of how little left it looks like it will be. Sadly the damage is done, and due to this error not many will be willing to listen no matter how reasonable the explanation is anymore. Good news is that after the animation is completed and time goes on, people will eventually move on with it. And, because of how good the animation looks and will likely be upon release, more people will join in the end. That’s pretty much the nature of the internet.

c1g

Were all sick of this sick joke Vote with your wallets people. As much as I respect the hard work and dedication. We're not seeing much change and of course audio, and day and night but people are growing tireless. Yes you keep saying you put in the work and thats very good for you but the because weve been "close" "almost" "next update" "one final review" its starting to think youre waiting for the subscriptions to hit the bank account a couple more months.

On behalf of all the reasonable people, I would like to apologize about Mike.

Haz

Mike's potatoes are about to explode, relax dude it’s an animation we’re talking about

Kitsune

To be honest, that line of thinking makes no sense. If subscriptions were all we cared about we could have simply pushed the project out more quickly by cutting corners. It would quell comments like this and we'd be able to start sharing fun new WIPs for the next project that's already making significant progress. It would have made us a lot more money and crushed a lot of the negativity. If it were about the money Fischl would have already released. But it's about giving you a good viewing experience and creating something we're passionate about. So even though it hurts us financially, and sours the opinions of some, and stagnates our follower counts, we push through regardless to make sure we're giving you the best. That's how much we care about giving you something good, not just shoving out something passable quickly for appeasement. The project also has many layers of work, each of which was "close" or got "finished" in their turn as we went. Core animation was "close", core animation was "finished", lights were "close", lights were "almost done", polishing, audio, etc. What we learned is telling you what individual pieces are close or finished is very confusing, and we need to better share progress for the entire work and not just the specific things we're doing. But we've talked about that, it's already in the plans, and we can't rewrite history. It's completely reasonable to be upset, and we can talk about that and come to mutual understanding without wild speculation. We only hope you enjoy the animation when it's finished and look forward to the fun things after!❤️

Personally after a year and a half of being a member and seeing this pretty much from start to now there's a ton of work that went into this for sure. My two cents would be the updates throughout the project might have been worded a bit badly if I'm going to be honest. The wip's were great to see and gave insight to what stuff what happening behind the scenes but I think some projections might have been a bit to optimistic. While many things may have seem normal to the regular process for you guys, for those who don't or didn't go to any streams might perceive it as having to redo work over and over again without understanding the reasoning. Each update seemed to indicate the the finish line was just within reach for the the next update to pull back and say not just yet "just a little more". I think many were understanding but if 6 months ago you said hey guys this is what we're doing it'll take at least another month to get to this goal for this part of the project , it'd have more effect than only the current process. Without a timeline; even a rough one people will make their own estimates if you only tell them what you're doing. ie voice lines, sfx, etc. without context in laymans terms it can get a bit hectic from different perspectives.

J F

Yeah, I'm a bit torn on this, because I was under the impression this was right about to come out as early as October of last year based on official comments. I spent about half a year with the impression that every single update this was right about to come out and while I've been trying to avoid complaining (I understand I can stop my payment at any time) I've been frustrated how this has been handled. Even during the post in April I had a sneaking suspicion based on nearly half a year of seeing "2 weeks" and similar posts that we still would not see it. Vici has made a post and acknowledged this problem, which I appreciated. But I've been reading through Kitsune's posts and I'm starting to wonder. I had thought that they realized this was a problem but now I see Kitsune claiming that the problem with communication is that they were simply "giving out too much information and that confused people" when I don't think that's the problem at all. I can go back and point to numerous and repeated official comments that led to people being under the impression that this was right about to release, but now it feels like they perhaps don't understand the issue as well as I thought they had as now I see multiple posts defending that they didn't tell us that and arguing the semantics of what was said and meant instead of acknowledging the impression what they were saying was actively having on people. Like I understand saying things like "It could be 2 weeks" is vague and isn't an exact due date, but ffs if I see that I'm not going to be expecting 6 months later for it still not to be out and for me to still have no clue when it might even get released, and seeing Kitsune argue the semantics of this is genuinely even more frustrating than the delays itself to me. At this point I think I'm just going to cancel my sub. This isn't intended to be a threat to Vici and the team, I have nothing but respect for the work they do I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that this was an honest mistake, but I'm exhausted with this. I'll enjoy this video when it comes out, I may even briefly resub in the future to grab new future projects when they come out, but the communication has been a massive issue and I honestly get the impression from reading Kitsune's responses to others that there's a huge fundamental gap between how they view this issues with communication from how I do. Good luck to the team though. I won't say I think this is a scam or wish any ill on them, but I'm personally done. Tbh I would have probably hit this point several months ago, but I appreciate Vici's positivity and all the cute text faces and vibes he puts into responses and posts, and the fact that he has been quite active in responses in general.

Kitsune

I can help clear up a bit of that I think. I wasn't aware of some of the specific replies you mentioned, I deal more with the actual update posts as we collaborate on some of that. Some of those updates and replies were definitely in error, and as you mentioned that was acknowledged already. We're working to improve there for sure. The gap however in perspectives is a matter of scope. On Patreon alone in a vacuum, the issue is primarily some of the replies that were overly optimistic that ended up inaccurate. Made in good faith, but simply not accounting for the things we couldn't predict. I work with the community on a far more massive scope though. We have an enormous Twitter community, and almost as many people in Discord as here on Patreon. On Twitter for nearly 1 million followers I do all of the correspondence while Vici takes care of most of it here. Many over there have made the very same claims and have the same perspectives, even in the absence of the "two weeks" replies. That is why I know first hand the problem is more involved than simply the "two weeks" replies Vici acknowledged. And from each side of the community we some messages that show a very clear lack of understanding of the process, coming up with estimates, etc. Let me give you a more clear example. Many replies here on Patreon, and on Twitter, had numerous complaints about going from "phase 5" then going "backwards" to an earlier phase multiple times. However we weren't going backwards, we were starting the next layer of work. Phase 1-5 core animation, then back to phase 1 to do lights all the way through phase 5, then back to phase 1 yet again for polishing animation, and so on. This is part of what we're planning to communicate better. We gave more of these details than ever before, and it confused a lot of people. Because we needed to give even more details on top of that for even more context. We appreciate your support and I hope that helps clear up the misunderstandings a bit. We look forward to sharing the animation with you when it's ready and hope you will enjoy it!❤️

J F

@Kitsune I'll give you guys the benefit of the doubt that these predictions were made in good faith, and I want you to understand that while I may not personally have experience with the production of these things, I am old enough to understand delays, and issues with production. Part of the issue however is due to the long period of time these predictions were repeatedly made over. I don't use twitter or X or whatever these days so I can't comment on that, nor can I speak on the exact details of other peoples frustrations in regards to the delays, I'm sure in many cases what you're saying is true, though I can say personally that the impressions I got were based on the comments here on patreon in regards to what I wrote. It might be true that there is a larger scope of issue in regards to communication, but this is just my take based on the platform I've mainly received info from you guys (patreaon). I have no doubt that I will enjoy the animation when it comes out. The unparalleled quality of the work speaks for itself and for what it's worth I would personally rather you guys take the time to make it as perfect as possible. Hopefully you understand that some of the criticisms myself and some others (obviously some people are only interested in trash talking, but many of us are providing these criticisms in good faith as well) are trying to provide are here to help you guys though.

Kitsune

I appreciate that, we've received a lot of feedback over the last year or so that's really given us some helpful insights so we can do things much smoother in the future. We're stuck with Fischl until it's done so some of that change may be hard to see now compared to say Melody or even Succubus Hu Tao over a year ago. We appreciate the feedback, and I try to pick out anything I can from both the heartfelt criticisms and the trash talking. I painstakingly read even the most lengthy negative and spiteful comments because there is always a lesson there. Both for us to glean the sources of issues, and for the community in dispelling some of the more egregious parts. We have a lot of fun stuff ahead, and a lot of ideas for how to give deeper insights to the community going forward. We really look forward to all of that once we're able to move on from Fischl and onto the neat stuff that's been cooking. Thanks again for your feedback, it's much appreciated! (˵^ ◡ ^˵)❤️

J F

@Kitsune Cheers. Good luck moving forward. I do look forward to not just Fischl's animation but various other ones Vici has expressed working on.

Gibbus

You can’t be serious?? Another UPDATE POST??? Wth?

Gibbus

Anyone here that has enough lifetime left over and watches the streams who can tell me what the hell EXACTLY is going on here? Not like “audio this and audio that” but exactly what the work is that is done right now? What part of audio editing could take this long? Pls explain 🙏🏽

Calvin

Y'all dying?

Kitsune

I'll try to break that process down for you: March 2nd: began rendering near-complete segments and sent to Rii for voicing. March 13th the rough first cuts of ready for the full project. I reviewed the roughly 1.5 hours of recordings, selected the best tracks, lined up to the video, edited and cut as needed, and within a few days had a rough draft of the voice for the entire project. Neko and I reviewed, made some notes, identified spots with issues, etc. Review takes an entire day at this size as we listen, discuss, note, re-listen, then move to the next parts. I then wrote up some voice direction for everything needing retakes, rendered video segments to act to, and sent to the voice actress for retakes. Retakes started March 21st after those preparations and finished April 1st (excluding phase 6). We reviewed, cut found some parts to improve and by April 4th had the next round of retakes done. At that point we were close to a thousand voice strips between first takes, retakes, and WIP audio. So with voice files in hand I started working with Shuro on the plan for SFX/ambience/etc and they began preparing some of the initial work there. I reviewed the whole video, took notes of parts they could tackle, and within a couple days they got started there. I spent the next few weeks cleaning up the ~1000 voice tracks, selecting tracks from the retakes, cutting, blending, adjusting to get a draft of the voice closer to release-ready. That was finished May 1st. During that time some of my time was split with helping out with SFX to prepare rough audio for a lot of the project. There were still several gaps to fill. By May 1st the first draft of sound for the whole project top to bottom was ready for us to review. We did another review which ate a whole day, took notes, spotted minor issues, etc. In that process we found some difficulties in splitting audio work and merging updates together, and just some stylistic differences that weren't matching very well. The entirety of phase 2 SFX were done with a new sound library we just found, but in the end we didn't like how it sounded and it didn't match at all with the rest. We hoped to freshen some things up there but ultimately had to redo phase 2 SFX from scratch. For context, phase 2 by itself is the size of an entire animation. It took a couple weeks to prepare SFX the first time, and it took me another couple weeks to redo it all again. So by this time Neko and Shuro had switched their focus over to Melody while I finish polishing audio. It wasn't saving time or making it easier with multiple people so it's been my full time focus for over a month now. Phase 2 and some small fixes for phase 1 were just completed yesterday so we reviewed that part, seems all good now, and I'm now preparing the notes for the remainder of the retakes for the voice actress. I expect she'll need a few days at least to finish them all (and she's the fastest we've ever worked with by far). While she does additional takes I'll be fixing a few more SFX issues and start editing and reviewing her work as soon as it's ready. As always it's hard to say for sure how much time some of those parts will take for a near 30 min video. As we showed you before with the audio project screenshots there are thousands of audio strips to adjust, audio balance, review, replace, etc throughout the process which has proven time consuming. Our project is so large now that Blender is starting to have problems even playing back some audio strips properly so to even listen and check parts requires jumping around the timeline and restarting the cache from up to a minute before the audio to check in some cases. Once our list of fixes and retakes are done, we do one last review to make sure we didn't miss anything, leave in any minor errors, etc, and make whatever final adjustments are needed. Then we start preparations for release ٩(。•`◡´•。)۶ I hope that helps give some insight into how this work is done for a project of this size. The screenshot we shared before should be a nice visual to go along with it for additional clarity (。> ‿ ◕。)

Man, all the bickering in the comments is a bit tacky, ngl. I miss when Vici replied ._.

Kitsune

They'll be back in the replies soon with the update we're posting next, not to worry (˵^ ◡ ^˵) I leave most comments here for them, things like compliments or constructive criticisms for example. On the other hand comments with blatant misinformation or lengthy complaints, or that require very technical explanations, I usually handle so they don't have to. We could just ignore them or toss them some platitudes and move on but it gives us an avenue to explain many of the things that people want explanations for. I think it's more earnest that way, if a bit negative. But we should be past all of that soon with the release of Fischl and we look forward to sharing that with you!❤️

Matthew Stasny

I really appreciate an explanation of the process this in depth! I’m sure it’s not feasible to do regularly, because it must have taken a while, but it is very good to have, thank you!

Kitsune

It's my pleasure (˵^ ◡ ^˵) We hope to go into some detail on the entire process a little better after release too. Animation, lighting, all that fun stuff. But first to finish Fischl ٩(。•`◡´•。)۶

Pierroutt

i appreciate the amount of effort and quality that you guys are putting into the animations, i know this sounds tacky but ill keep supporting, thank you~
