From Chris: Uncut yakuza masterpiece from the 70s, basically the Japanese  equivalent of Goodfellas. Potent brew of a thrilling yakuza gang war, a  cross-dressing assassin, lurid violence, great cast and compelling  characters. May very well be the best yakuza movie I've ever seen. Way  ahead of whatever Hollywood was doing at the time, a sophisticated web  of gangster intrigue and genre thrills in a fine screenplay.

Film  Movement provides a satisfactory 2K transfer. There's no real hiding of  the soft cinematography and somewhat weak contrast, though grain  reproduction is excellent. Probably a slightly older telecine effort.  The director's daughter gives a shockingly candid and frank discussion  of her father's movie.
