Hi all!

We've just uploaded a new Patrons Ask GN episode. You can find the timestamps below!

00:16 - Ice Queen: “#askgn-questions You recently talked about what it's like dealing with AMD, what is it like dealing with the various CPU cooler manufacturers? Do they tend to get cranky with you if your review isn't favorable, have you had runins (Without naming specific names if you'd prefer) with manufacturers that either would not send you samples because of previous coverage of other makers or due to a product you've reviewed from them unfavorably? Do AIO brands get upset when data is shown that an air cooler is beating out their much more expensive water coolers? Also thank you for the content, love learning about a lot of the nitty gritty stuff no one else covers. <3”

04:59 - UltimateF8: “#askgn-questions As you might have seen with some of the biggest YouTube channels, often these channels are forced to sacrifice quality to reach a broader audience. For example, many gaming Youtubers reduce quality to be more accessible to children, or in the case of tech, LTT or Austin Evans have clickbait videos that appeal mostly to younger audiences. Do you foresee GN having to do the same if the channel continues to grow rapidly?”

07:07 – StarTrak: “@Steve Burke I really enjoyed the DIY Hades Canyon water cooling video! On that subject, would you consider doing more "MacGyver" content, à la "Whole Room Water Cooling" of LinusTechTips fame? I've always been interested in things like shoestring-budget water cooling, janky-but-doable case modding, and the idea of putting a radiator out the window, because no noise is good noise. I know and appreciate that GamersNexus has a heavy emphasis on falsifiable, evidence-based testing, disseminating facts, and providing solid, rational answers, but I've definitely done my share of -frankly- stupid things, and as a creative but unskilled PC enthusiast, it would be nice to also see content that resonates with the inner immature tinkerer. The "big fish" "info-tainment" tech YouTubers do a polished job that feels out of reach of the average guy with a Dremel, and I think GamersNexus could do a good job conveying a more realistic outcome of outlandish computer-building schemes. (Not saying you guys are bad, I just think GN conveys content in a very organic-feeling way.)”

11:30 - P230: “@Steve Burke Did you guys ever figure out what happened to the missing vega card?”

11:39 – silkmonkey: “In terms of airflow, reliability, noise, longevity, etc what are the actual differences in fans (assuming same size)? What to look for? Seems like 1500 RPM is 1500 RPM and 60 CFM is 60 CFM”

I like when you throw things around, Steve. Makes me feel like I'm not going to break something by looking at it.

it's true though haha i changed thermal paste lately on my Ryzen ,sweating the whole time not to do anything to damage it ,this is why stuff throwing is very enjoyable ,it's a release haha and it gets me every time ,just saw the youtube ask GN ,he threw the Ryzen ->laughed ,saw this, he threw the back plate ->laughed

How do I get on discord, I am lazy to a point and really torn between two questions, one is waiting for the Threadripper 2950x worth it and I want to attempt a custom water loop. I plan on getting the MO-R3 9/18 fan radiator to start from and hit CPU, Memory, Graphics x 2, SSDs,(like the M.2 on that dimm card on ASUS Zenith Extreme if its possible with a water block for the memory??) What fans are best to use for that radiator? How would I design it and how do I make it so I dont have to worry for 5+ years if possible? Thanks if you get to this one.

BTW dont change, I love the way you do things and thats why I am here and hope more Buildzoid videos come I love learning the magic that is computers.

William, for getting on Discord, you should have received an email from Patreon that contains a unique link to click on to be able to join the Discord channel, check whatever email you have tied to Patreon. As for the custom water cooling, I've never done a custom loop myself, but I know the only components that really benefit from getting water cooled are your CPU and GPU. Typically if you have good air flow the memory and SSD's should be fine, though I'm sure parts exist to water cool them, water cooled power supplies even exist. Also, again, from my understanding, pretty much all custom loops require some form of maintenance with the coolant you use at least once or twice a year, even if it's something as simple as topping off the reservoir or flushing the loop.

Question on power supplies.. when a company comes out with a power supply is that them making the power supply themselves or do they design it, have someone else make it then slap their name on it or even just resell someone elses design?
